I completely agree. Here in the West the studios (music and film) have been corrupt since the 1930s, in fact probably since the beginning the of entertainment business as we know it. The 'Casting Couch' came into being very quickly and, as we now know, is still going strong. It's disgusting and loathsome but, sadly, there doesn't seem to be any will to change it regardless of the country its being carried out in. As the saying goes "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" - this is shown in glaring bright light in the entertainment industry both here in the West and in Asia (and, I have no doubt, globally).

Agreed, but when other actors appear to be involved and are just let off because they refuse to talk about it (as seemed to be the case with Yu Menglong) then I think they should be called out and made to at least tell the authorities what they know or saw. However, making random accusations when the 'accused' person can prove they were not involved in any way in the other person's death is absolutely wrong and should definitely be called out and stopped.

I think we also need to accept that individual managers and overall CEOs who commit, or encourage, abuse of actors/idols should absolutely be named and shamed at the very least. Anonymity is what allows them to continue their abuse and even to ramp it up - as happened to Zhao Lusi.

Our entertainment industry here in the West is as bad, but in the other direction - they don't care what their artists/actors do, how much they suffer, have addictions, etc so long as they make them money. There is either Asian style total control of their lives (this is usually with Disney) or they're left to literally run amok (most recording companies).

Oh and of course we've had our own evil owners/directors - Epstein, Weinstein and Polanski to name just a few. The last of which STILL gets standing ovations from Hollywood despite being a convicted rapist.

I don't even know what the answer is anymore. I would certainly never encourage anyone I know to go into acting, music, etc apart from local/amateur gigs.

Yu Menglong didn't 'work himself to death' though did he? He was murdered, and he's not the only one who appears to have been butchered by rich sadists. Even those that do drop dead from overwork (or commit suicide from the exhaustion and despair) are often driven to do so - case in point, Gao Godfrey. It was leaked how he was begging for time off because he felt ill and it was refused; sadly, he subquently died. That was NOT his choice on any level.

Zhao Lusi is another example of management companies being completely out of control . This is also not just a Chinese problem, look at South Korean and Japanese management companies and how they treat their actors/idols.

we raised our daughter to be kind, but if someone hurts you - then rip out their heart and gnaw on their spine; but she is a LOT softer than I am (which is fine too). I would never tolerate someone treating her as Zhao Lusi was, I would've gone full feral Gen-X Mama on the abuser.

I'm a British Gen-Xer, I'm 60, so please excuse me if I'm out of touch - I'm into Kpop (thanks to my daughter) and Kdrama through that love of Kpop music. One thing fanwars always make me roll my eyes about is if they just stopped attacking everyone (and often each other) they would be able to unite to ensure their idols/actors got BETTER treatment from their agencies.

Zhao Lusi is classic example of toxic agencies not being held accountable until it's almost too late. I would even argue that, given the sad death of Yu Menglong, that often times it IS too late. NO ONE is held accountable and the fans continue to lose their sh*t over a couple of actors messing around because they're friends, but NOT at their favourite actors/idols being abused, even murdered, by their agencies - at the very least worked to death (RIP Godfrey Gao).

So the fans NEED to put their dumb differences aside, unite together and take ALL the agencies on - literally toe to toe . Only then will things change for the idols/celebrities they claim to love . Besides, these idols & celebrities are PEOPLE, and NOT robots. They will fall in love, break up with partners, have kids, fall out with friends, make mistakes and get tired/sick/depressed. They're human beings, just like us; having successes and failures, good and bad times. But hey, I'm a feral Gen-Xer so what do I know?😜

I'm very, very happy for him. The allegations were debunked, he was also very ill at the time he had to face all the lies and he really didn't deserve to suffer as he did. It was disgusting how many lies were told and false accusations made.

I'm 60, British and a huge Kdrama fan, so I read a lot about him as I'd seen some of his projects. I grew up in an area where drugs were (and still is) a blight on so many lives, so it concerned me he might have been guilty. But this lad did nothing wrong, He was basically accused by people who loathed him for being himself & accused him of hurting others. It's been proven he did nothing wrong. I really would like this poor young man to be allowed to get his life back now. I also think his accusers should face charges.

From what I've read recently here in the UK, he has been proven innocent now. So I hope his career can restart and he can go back to working in dramas and movies again. It's disgusting what has been done to him.

Same. I still got bits and pieces in braincells my stroke didn't kill! LOL! At least we tried and I have some I can still remember from a lot of Asian languages now (I tried Mandarin too, that worked about as well as the Japanese and Korean, but I've still got the basics).

I'm glad if it was another lifetime. Then they were fated to meet and live a good, happy life together - at least once. They certainly suffered enough for that to be allowed them.

Okay, I love both actresses and I'm watching both dramas currently. I have to say though that 'Love Game in Eastern Fantasy' is streets ahead of 'The Story of Pearl Girl'. They're both good, don't get me wrong. The acting is wonderful in both. It's just....well, to be honest, Love Game is way more engaging and entertaining. I am so done with all the death dramas and tragedies right now. I've just finished 'Kill Me, Love Me' and there's too many like that around - sad endings for no good reason that just drive the viewer mad. People say "oh well, we have to understand that real life is full of tragedy and not everyone gets a disney ending!" But come on I just want to hug a pillow because a cute couple are being adorable and laughing because someone's an accident prone klutz (like me) and get AWAY from my problems for a while.....NOT join someone else in theirs.

So I think, given the world is STILL a dumpster fire that STILL run by morons, should have more dramas that are fun and entertaining, rather than soul destroyingly depressing. I'm clearly not alone and, to me at least, I think this is why the very cute (but also dramatic) Love Game is doing better than Pearl Girl.

I'm still confused as to whether Fu Chou was genuinely evil or just messed up by his life growing up and the palace (as the rest of them seemed to be)?
I am alternating between feeling sorry for him to wanting to slap him. Does he have a bad end? Not sure whether to continue with this drama....🥺

Exactly - nothing to do with him, just the judiciary trying to make a point. The fact that he's sympathetic to the Korean LGBT community & is critical of the government has nothing to do with it either....right? Just as bad as the UK now (free speech is just dead)....I really feel for him he must feel completely alone.

I LOVED 'Go Ahead', so will be very interested to watch this!
