CD seems to be the only costume drama airing. I don know anything about OG or any of the cast. I have never seen w drama starring either of the main leads. There nothing wrong with airing serious dramas, but with the number of consumers during summer surely there’s room for more than one genre to shine.

I don’t know about Douban but most of the dramas you listed had one issue after another due to actors/actresses having issues.

Funny how iQIYI is airing 3 dramas at the same time. ADWAD is airing, bai jinting’s tribute drama is airing and now coroner’s diary is starting.
All these platforms are just mumbling things up.
If I were Tencent when others are airing serious drama I will air sweet non serious drama to cater to the taste of the younger generation. Not everyone will like to watch serious drama and vice versa.

So it’s not ready but they already got license. Is that how it works?

It will be a shame if this serious drama flops. Because Tencent will now have to throw another drama under the bus to help them raise the viewership/tv ratings.

Then they should fast track 800 meters then if they really want to battle with serious dramas.

To think this drama was shortened to 40 from about 50. It was also planned to be part1 & 2 but they ended up shrinking it.
