They didn't seem like they were planning a third season, season 2 ends with a hint of this guy but that's it and no "we'll see you back for another season", which was something season 1 did. This was definitely unplanned, but yes I'd say to go watch the first two to set the dynamic and why she's going to choose this guy over her previous relationships. You won't understand how the cells work or her personality without it.
I am considering picking back up season 1 and then going through 2 so I can watch this season lol. But why is…
A handful of reasons, but I can point out 2 main ones.
Sun rok didn't get near as much time in the Webtoon as the other two, his arc was pretty short to be the end all for some reason.
Babi got most of Sun Roks romantic scenes in season 2 and even Ung got one of his, so this season is getting cut short and the development is going much slower between them than it should. Since it's shorter, we aren't getting to see the cells reactions of either of them as much as before and figure out why people are switching up suddenly and things like that.
So it's a mixture of screw ups. But it's not that this season is bad at all, I'm loving it regardless, we just want more! It's taking a slow burn approach with only 8 episodes, which is the biggest gripe of us all lol
Watch it though, episode 6 has a very cute scene I've never seen done in a Kdrama romcom.
they gave all sun rook's scenes and all the sweet things he did for yumi to babi in season 2 .. it is their fault…
Honestly I wouldn't have minded if they repeated the scenes but made them just slightly different if they did make the mistake of not planning a season 3. Definitely robbed.
it's the face card. i also don't get why she fell in love when he was kinda being a jerk to her.
To be honest he wasn't really being that rude in my opinion. Blunt, sure. The earbuds? Introvert who doesn't have social skills and doesn't want to talk lol The only thing I can think of is he's honest when he speaks, when her previous boyfriends were dishonest time after time and lied constantly, which was terrible for Yumi. I wanted to rage everytime Ung or Babi kept keeping secrets about quite literally everything. Sun Rok, when he speaks, means what he says. Other than the odd emphasis on her liking his looks, she did like how honest he was.
Finally caught up! I do understand why everyone is wanting more episodes now lol Episode 6 events should've happened at 4 or 5 already, but oh well. We get what we get.
I sadly feel like although Sun Rok and Yumi are around each other sometimes, they're not really around each other at all, it's odd. No quality scenes, everytime a phone rings or a text message is coming you hope it'll be between them but it ends up not 9/10. They're seperate from each other too often. Sun Rok got the shaft bad on his arc, he's a great character but an introvert can't open up in 8 episodes, that's the biggest issue. Still enjoying it of course, but yeah haha I'm aware even the Webtoon seemed to rush the last story arc, so some of it isn't their fault.
Every scene from 5 and on should've felt like that gaming scene, best one so far and more Kdramas need scenes like that, loved it!!
After episode 5 thoughts - I agree with the commenter below about how we really need more reasons why they're going to end up liking one another. It's been fun but surface level in terms of their personalities really coming out and poor Yumi keeps getting sidelined when she tries to talk with Sun Rok that we aren't getting any development there between them.
Great soundtrack, every season it just gets better and better in the music department!
As an introvert myself, I can understand why Sun Rok doesn't say much, his behavior etc. and he's 100% relatable loll Just kind of hard to adapt a character like that since they end up not really saying much so we don't get to know who they are or much about them (which I'm guilty of myself so it does make sense to a certain extent lol)
Need the whole thing to ramp up to 1000% here at the end haha
Am I the only one who doesn't understand why she even likes SR personality wise? I mean she saw him without his…
Yeah, it feels rushed so they couldn't develop much of that so far from what I'm seeing and I just finished episode 5. Very surface level unfortunately. Hopefully with the time of the last couple episodes they'll use their time wisely and give us some reasons why they both even are starting to have feelings for each other.
Guys, please, stop asking whether or not you can watch a THIRD season of something without knowing the whole story 😭 lol For one: What do you gain from that? You're going to be clueless about the dynamics and character behaviors, including how the cells work. Two: You don't say, start season 2 of Alchemy of Souls without 1 do you? because everything along the way is necessary.
Yes, you need the other seasons if you want to fully enjoy the end result.
Made it to the end of season 2!! I can start on this one tomorrow now, woohoo! Honestly it was super fun and cute to watch when I never watch stuff like this lol and although it might've seemed like previously they weren't planning to do a season 3 and were going to leave it off with the cliff hanger and assumption about Sun rok with a "you already know what's coming but we just won't show it" kind of thing, I'm glad they did make it and thankful we even got 8 episodes in the first place.
What scenes were stolen? I didn't like S2 so skipped quite a bit and the last 2 episodes.
I'm not fully knowledgeable on th subject, but I know they made Babi seen like a way better person than he actually was in the Webtoon and gave many of the romantic scenes of Soon Roks to Babi. I think there's probably most of it floating around on the Internet where they will show what scenes weren't supposed to be for Babi.
To be honest looking at it, the Webtoon seemed to rush her last relationship (he apparently appears at around episode 441 out of its total 512, giving him way less story than her previous 2 loves), the Webtoon writer probably just wanted to end their story quickly since they'd been working on it for so long and wanted it to be over. if season 2 used some of Sun roks scenes as well then no wonder this is so short. He already wasn't there in the Webtoon as much the others and then is getting his scenes stolen, which is a shame. Really weird, but it makes sense why this season only got 8 episodes though.
What's with the comment section? I came here all excited lol Is it just me getting all hyped up over the flow…
I don't know, I haven't made it here yet but I find it kind of funny that you have two sides of the coin - people who enjoy the longer waiting phase or people who get bored after a couple get together lol From the sound of it I'd be perfectly fine with how it's going as well, I enjoy the journey personally. And with someone introverted it's not going to move as fast as someone who's extroverted. What's going on is to be expected.
The OST by WOODZ is just phenomenal—his voice is so heartbreaking. Honestly, every OST he releases is beautiful.https://youtu.be/zpEcTuch36g?si=FE27pegWD_a7lme6
Glad to see someone else showing him some love. He's underrated as an artist!
