Well, this particular "Regular Viewer of BL" enjoyed the points regarding the comparisons of the situations the mermen/merpeople face on this Thailand island to the bigotry that sadly still many LGBTQ people face in many parts of the world.
It's apparently called Knot the Series and with BoatOat leading I have absolutely no doubt that that promise is…
I hope so. After the release of the CBL AlphaOmega Mpreg series, "ABO Desire The Series" folks were pondering if Thailand could or would ever take a shot at producing their own spin in the ABO/Mpreg genre.
"The late 1960s were a turbulent era for cultures spread across many continents. What Shine does is convey a sense of how that era looked and felt in Thailand; how the people of Thailand might have behaved and believed. In this regard, Be On Cloud’s production succeeds in evoking the spirit of those times. The genius of Shine is that it may be specific to Thailand, but in many respects its depiction of 1969 has universal overtones."
Exactly. Sadly, I think that for many viewers of Thai BL, they truly believe that Bangkok, and Thailand as a whole country is this sort of "gay mecca" that didn't have to go through massive social, political, and cultural changes as the rest of the world during this time period.
Shine The Series wasn't a usual Thai BL, and I appreciate that it wasn't an easy watch.
Glad he whooped the dad's ass! I need Ai to realize he's in love already before Kaishin leaves. I really like…
Ai knows that he's in love with Kaishin. He just has to acknowledge it for himself and then confess to Kaishin. When Himeka had asked him how long has it been since he desired the touch of another man since he met Kaishin and he gave her that little nod in his answer. When he lost his mind over finding out that his scumbag abusive father had confronted Kaishin and his niece. Ai begging that asshole to not bother his niece and Kaishin anymore.
I was reluctant to start this because I know the Japanese adaption of Love In The Air got pretty negative reviews…
I enjoyed the Japanese adaption of LITA due to them taking out all of the unnecessary extra characters and only focusing on the four main characters and their storyline development in the series.
As for this series, we can clearly see that Ai's hesitation and resistance to allowing himself to fall in love was due to what he experienced and witnessed in his parents marriage as a child. He doesn't want to put himself in a situation that will have him possibly trapped in an abusive manipulative relationship.
In yesterday's episode, it revealed the mental, emotional and psychological hold and trauma Ai's abusive father has had on him for decades. Being afraid that his father had killed his psychologist?! The a**hole deserved that beatdown from Kaishin, revealing just how powerless he truly is to Ai. That he's a scumbag using money he demands from his ex-wife and son to continue his lifestyle.
2nd SpecialYou’re watching, laughing, but also yelling at the screen like, “Jun, sweetheart, just slurp louder…
The whole "wifey" thing that Sorn has for Jun is due to Jun not having a negative reaction towards that specific endearment. If Jun really had an issue, Sorn would have found another way to call him "his beloved".
It does also fit into the BL element, let's not kid ourselves. Along with Sorn still being possessive over Jun and Jun being insecure about Sorn's real feelings for him. Sorn still thinks that there is some other random guy out in Bangkok, that will somehow/suddenly take away Jun's love for him, while Win's ridiculous comments that Jun had to pay more attention/show affection towards Sorn in order to keep him.
If Jun never, ever wanted to work another day in his life, Sorn would be absolutely fine with it, and make a plan to make it happen for them. All Sorn wants to do is to make Jun happy, so that they have a future together. If that future means that Jun takes charge in the bedroom every now and again, Sorn is alright with it. Sorn's mind and body was so connected and comfortable, when Jun initiated that night together in their condo. Yes, Jun needed some liquid courage, but I am glad that he surprised Sorn and himself in unleashing his inner dom. They didn't behave as though Sorn constantly has to initiate their sexual intimacy anymore, as I have seen in other BLs. Especially when characters have been together for some time.
These characters behave as still in awe of themselves, and their relationship with one another.
I seriously question the people who say it couldve benefited the second couple, or the second couple should get…
"Why keep up those expectations when you all have been told multiple times that the novel isnt about the them."
Because they want someone to understand their opinion, but they don’t seem to realize that absolutely nothing they post here, Twitter/X, Instagram, Tumblr, nor Reddit has had an effect to what has already been released. We only have two episodes left. They can be self efficient and create the scenes that they want to see in fan fiction and make themselves happy, give themselves peace, and enjoyment.
I understand people hating on Dhevi as a character, but I can't understand those who say Be On Cloud are doing…
There was absolutely no way that Dhevi was going to let Krailert run away with Naran and have their happy ever after. She’s the daughter and sister of very high ranking, influential, and powerful members of the military. If people in their circle of society had found out the real truth behind Krailert leaving his position in the military, Bangkok, and Dhevi for another man back in that time period, it would have left her being seen and thought of as a pathetic woman, who wasn't able to "keep nor satisfy her man". She was never going to allow that to happen.
I saw many people across all platforms complaining that Trin didn't apologize, wasn't going to help/ talk to Thanwa,…
"Like Trin said, Thanwa had some healing to do, and Trin couldn't help him with that."
Exactly. Tanwa had years of drugged down trauma that he needed to deal with, outside of what happened regarding the death of Victor and Trin's feelings of betrayal. Ugh. Both Tanwa and Trin had to go on their own separate journeys in order to find themselves again. As for Tanwa being the one to meet up with Trin in Paris after two years, it was for a direct purpose for their second chance. For him to experience the "vanilla sunset" in Paris with Trin. Their new beginning.
Sadly, GMMTV really isn't "losing" regarding the fan service that is heavily relied upon in Thai entertainment industry, specifically within the BL/GL genre.
There is a method to their marketing, and they want talent that is willing to play the game.
I'm glad that GMMTV, Inn and Great figured out that their form of marketing their talent did not work for them as performers.
I just think that neither Inn nor Great really were willing to participate fully in what it takes to be a "successful" CP with GMMTV, and that's understandable and okay in my opinion.
I loved the journey of Mashiro and Kanade reuniting with each other as adults.
Kanade realizing that he's not alone in the world anymore due to him finally being out to himself, his family, and a select group of close friends with his relationship with Mashiro.
Mashiro and his Mom are finally able to have a non codependent relationship with one another as a parent and child. This was a lovely BL series that focused on gay male adults establishing healthy boundaries with their parents. Along with showing the experiences that many queer people go through to affirm their devotion, love, and care for one another.
Agreed, but many of the creators of the stories these BLs are adapted from are young women writers. I know they are creating fictional works, but they don't even attempt to try and give their female characters anything remotely focused on their own interests/goals other than their main purpose of supporting the male characters.
Why should we continue to have these young girls constantly pursuing young men, who actively show no romantic interest in them? Why is it that none of their other female friends tell them that they should move on and stop setting themselves up for more heartache?
Peach blossoms run through their story. When they were boys, Ziang carried a peach branch back into the courtyard.…
"After death they met once more beneath the peach trees. No thrones. No chains. Only two souls finding each other again."
The huge smile on Duan Ziang's face when he approached Shuhe in the afterlife, along with the look of amazement on Shuhe's face. Shuhe told his older brother that he couldn't leave with him, because he was waiting for someone else. He didn't expect for Duan Ziang to rush to by his side after everything that he said to him on their last day together in the mortal world.

Boat and Oat in a Thai AlphaOmega project?!

All of that was out of love.

Agreed. BOC said from the very beginning that this series will not be the usual BL. What did some viewers really think was going to be shown?

Especially since this series is set in college.
