There are so many times she stitches up the wounds in his heart, mind and soul with her words and he soaks them up like a dry sponge. She doesn’t lecture or mock or berate him. She approaches him like she did when he was young - with sincerity, patience and a great amount of love.

What a beautifully composed review. I love how everyone takes away something different yet comes to the same conclusion - that this was a good drama and has so much in it for everyone. Well done!

Agreed. I very rarely read anything before I watch a drama because most people assume rose petals, heart shaped balloons and cotton candy rather than rating a drama for its own merit. I found this a refreshing take on what it means to truly love someone with a mental illness (ptsd & childhood trauma).

Same here. Most people view any kind of relationship as disposable. If you don’t cater to my demands - gone. If you don’t agree with me all the time, gone. If you don’t make me happy 24/7, gone. If you don’t return my call or text me within my predetermined length of time, gone.

Her character was selflessly stubborn in regards to him. which is just what he needed to have those locks broken ❤️

Yes, I remember him saying that. It’s a heartbreaking way to think about love and himself. That is despair carried over from childhood trauma. His character is very relatable to me and people I have met. It’s like he had given up and was merely existing until he di*d and didn’t want anyone to see his demise. He was a very affectionate and caring person, but that side of him had been caged by his ‘mother’.

I love him as an actor. He is very good at portraying a deep range of emotion with just his eyes!

Yes. No foundation to make decisions because everything he did garnered criticism and rage. He was very sensitive, and that barrage of vitriol from someone who was supposed to love and protect a child was unbearable for him, so he chose to hide and try to make himself into the person he was told he should be by that abusive woman which only took him further away from who he was meant to be.

Cherry saw who he was supposed to be, and coaxed that out of him, and loved him despite his perceived flaws.

That is love.

It was a beautiful story! And you are correct - there is no flawless or perfect human being.

There is a psychological principle with trauma experiences where, especially when young, the age a person experiences trauma and their underdeveloped mind has no reference in how to cope, this is where that decision comes into play for the rest of their life unless the seek counseling or someone intervenes on their behalf. And Cherry was not only his hope, but she gave him patience and strength to fight for something better.

Thank you for saying so. I was not expecting so many people who agreed with me. I’m glad my words (even with all the typos!) touched people.

after seeing so many negative reviews bashing the FL, calling her self centered and out of touc, your review perfectly…
Thank you. She was very strong even as a child. It’s too bad people read romance and expect something from their imaginations instead of taking the story as it is.

Yes it is a sad representation. People are offended too easily, or someone behaves differently than they think they should and ‘dispose’ people who don’t stroke their egos or make them feel good all the time. There’s no space for people to express their emotions or difficulties. It truly can be a very lonely planet.
