From what I've seen much of the criticism is not about being unable to take a joke, but that he made a very PUBLIC…
When Wang Hedi made his statement on Weibo, he didn't think he was right to be sensitive about the speech they made. But when he saw people's analyses about the award speech, his feelings at the time were basically affirmed to be right. This is a common feeling people have, people don't know when they're being bullied, gaslighted etc. and think it's wrong for them to speak out because they think they're being too sensitive or the group mood. I myself have had experiences of feeling disrespected/excluded but didn't know if it was right to speak out. Not the same as Wang Hedi's but I completely relate to his feelings on how he was treated on Inn 2026.
And it's probably not just because of that one speech either, if you look through Inn 2026 you would find Wang Hedi looking more tired and less happy. Plus there are more gruelling things cut out from Inn like deep hand wounds, or carrying big water bottles a long way. It's like these things were cut out to make the show look more friendly rather than full truth. This is why people think things might have actually been even worse than on screen.
And all of this was a public issue to begin with. The moment the speech was brodcasted on public TV it wasn't a private issue anymore. So Wang Hedi had the right so speak up and tell people that he was uncomfortable, publicly speaking up for this treatment encourages good things anyways for the industry. It doesn't help that Shen Yue's letter was not convincing of accountability, she didn't even mention the worst part of the whole award speech (the 王鹤低 Wang He-bottom part). If it wasn't a letter for on behalf of all 5 other members then she was being selfish and just aiming to absolve her of blame.
If anything what she did incited the actual gaslighting here, because black marketing accounts just took it as a way to take lots of out of context clips to slander Wang Hedi for every ridciulous reason. That completely turns attention away from what the actual topic and issue was to begin with.
It was never that Wang Hedi couldn't take a joke, he has many instances of dealing with jokes on other shows. It's that in Inn they didn't respect his boundaries, or show him proper respect as a boss throughout the show. What I've seen actual management peoplee say is that Wang Hedi was doing a lot of work compared to the rest of the crew, and they relate to him. It's not that they didn't do work but they were doing a lot less compared to the boss himself. So an award speech in the end where they called him a bottom is really insensitive and disrespectful compared to him giving normal congratulatory awards to his staff.
There's a time for jokes, this wasn't one of them and it's their fault. [Side note: Wang Hedi and Shen Yue were never as close as people were led to believe. In 8 years they only talked to each other on shows they were both on.]
Isn’t this more of an issue with the Chinese government? Does he even choose which actors he gets to work with?
Don't take that guy's comment seriously. It's such an obvious troll comment. Based on his logic, you might as well call every Chinese actor racist towards black people.
I'd rather laugh at his comment then argue with idiotic black haters/Shen Yue fans that try to play victim or defame him over out of context clips.
Where is the proof that he refused to work with Black actresses? I'd blame the system for not having black actresses…

This video covers everything relevant related to the Wang Hedi and Liu Yaowen ice sword scene:
"The group had already failed the climb multiple times, and Didi was the only one still attempting it, literally exhausting himself to pull everyone through. Once he finally reached the top and secured the rope, his first instinct was to ask production to lower more rope so his brothers below could climb more easily too. Most of the ice swords were damaged during that process.
By the end [of the slope climb], six swords were down to two. Liu later accidentally shattered one himself, meaning the remaining sword in his hand afterwards wasn't his. Didi then chose to break that one too because everyone else's had already been broken and he did not want anyone singled out. He even comforted Liu by saying he would buy him another one afterwards."
Not only did he promise to buy Yaowen another sword, one that wasn't even Yaowen's, but all of the ice swords were free anyway. This entire slope climb sequence was one of my favorite moments from Wander Together, and yet scumbags are trying to distort it just for defaming Wang Hedi. Everything the black marketing has done is super vile.
If you still believe the the 3 second edited clips about the ice sword, then you're simply just an idiot. Nothing else about it.
such a manchild, he’s allowed to joke with others but he can’t take a joke?😭🤣he only felt uncomfortable…
What an idiot you are. They made it a joke where they called him a bottom and never checked with him on it to see if he was okay or whether the joke was okay. They failed to realize that it was an offensive and insensitive joke, and it's their fault that he was uncomfortable from it. It's also the production crew's fault for letting it slide and having it air on public TV. None of them have shown proper (I mean PROPER and nothing half-baked) accountability for all of this either, so really THEY are the manchildren filled with stupidity for doing everything.
Somehow, I knew someone would gaslight Wang Hedi for his father's restaurant. It's only the fault of the black marketing accounts for bombing 1-star reviews and making fake interview quotes. They wanted to target Wang Hedi but ended up bringing his regular humble dad into the slander. Could be that they know ALL of their manipulated clips against Wang Hedi are complete bull, so they have to target his family next.
But at least the people of Leshan know better, and know to support Di Ba restaurant in case things are actually going wrong. Because they know siding with their hometown hero is the right thing here, not siding with a black marketing hive mind with intent of slander and engagement. At least Wang Hedi loses nothing in the end, and only gains 10 billion views of engagement because of idiots like you who believed everything.
[Wang Hedi and Shen Yue aren't even that close. They didn't contact each other for 3-4 years and after that; only met each other like 6-7 times. They were never as close as TV apparently made you believe. His true close friends are guys like Huang Zitao and Wang Chuanjun].
Wang Hedi Folder says right now there are fabricated stories about Wang Hedi's father accepting an interview. An interview where he supposedly was asked about the mass 1-star bombing of the Di Ba skewer restaurant. Leading to mass hate towards his father.
Wang Hedi Folder account says " Once people start to question if people have gone too far, the water armies' narrative abruptly flipped into "there were barely any bad reviews anyway", reframing the situation as if Didi's side had invented the controversy for sympathy. The contradiction was obvious, but by then the damage had already been done."
As you can tell, no original source for the interview exists. No video, no credible link to a full article. If you need an example to laugh at how stupid people are, this is a very good example.
When you can't prove the perpetrator is not guilty, you must make the victim look bad. That is what is happening.…
The ones who messed up the most are the production crew and Qin Lan. One should have thought harder about whether what they were writing was okay or not. The other failed at her job of being the older one by not checking on his emotions, when that was part of her job to begin with.
If they don't realize every way they were gaslighting him, and do not take proper accountability, then they really don't deserve to be called friends.
Apparently haters are now spamming one-star reviews to Wang Hedi's father's restaurant. Such trash scum. The CCP at this point should have tighter rules against black marketing like this.

It's about boundaries in the end. The other members clearly did not set proper boundaries with him and it ended up coming to this. Boundaries decides whatever names they can call each other. Wang Hedi wasn't sure if he was right to say he was violated, but when he saw peoples' analysis he realized he had a right to be sensitive.
The reason this has been blown out of proportion is: 1. This was all on public TV, it became a public rather than private incident. 2. All the black marketing accounts came to capitalize on this and post many out of context 3-second videos from other shows with Wang Hedi. All to make him look bad. It diverts people from the original main topic and it just became a "ugh Wang Hedi stepped on my toe, let's hate him" trend.
Deep down, I also wish they can just talk about this privately but this issue has become too public now. And people don't even know what they're actually talking about anymore and just giving hivemind hate. So the other members have to show proper (emphasis on proper) public accountability for this. It's not right for them to be silent when they're basically the ones who caused this.
Season 2 was already confirmed in November last year. We don't know when it will come, but we know it is coming.
As for how many chapters will be covered in Season 2, we don't know but it's highly likely that it won't be the last season either.

Honestly, I welcome the idea of Wang Hedi acting with any non-Chinese actor
I'd rather laugh at his comment then argue with idiotic black haters/Shen Yue fans that try to play victim or defame him over out of context clips.

Apparently many of the scenes mentioned in their testimonies never made it to the final brodcast.
Includes people like Liu Tao, Song Dandan and Liu Yaowen giving long sentences of praise for Wang Hedi.
