It took me some time to finish this series. I started awhile aback and stopped up to episode 3. About some weeks…
Weite have feelings for Cai Ti ever since. In fact, I can assume that it was since the start when Cai Ti tries to recruit him, and he even thought Cai Ti would sleep with him when he called to sleep in. Since then, there was flirtation between the two. He even purposely gave a wristband to her before he went to Bangkok.
I liked elements of the series, but yet another series written by someone who has not done their research and…
If you follow through the story, you will find out that Weite is actually a National Team in Thailand, and the other two divers are actually experienced divers recruited by Bai Long.
The (step)brothers, and the two friends perving on friend's brother are totally pointless and ruin the whole show.
Pete, Ae, Tin, Can and Pond are enough to carry the show. Too bad, the people behind the show probably think they cant do it on their own so they have to incorporate TharnType characters (which I have not watched and not invested enough to care). It's useless too since the actors who play those characters are not the same. Makes someone like me even confused since I tried to find the actors who play Tharn and Type and I was like - what they dont look the same, and then thought they are just coincidentally the same name - only to find a website to detail that the characters are played by different actors. *rolleyes*
So is this show mostly romantic? I'm trying to figure out if there's a whole lot of science on it or it was just about ethics? Im on episode 2 right now...
So many thoughts in my head. If I have to make a spoiler-free comment, I would say that it was better than I expected. I always fear for sequels, and this one the story and cinematography delivered. But if I would compare this to the first one, it was a bit off.
1. The music was not as compelling. The first series has the music integrated into the storyline and it helps you to appreciate it more. In here, the music was a bit forgetable, there's nothing to tether it to the story.
2. There is a lot more moments between Teh and Oh in the first series for obvious reason.
3. The dramatic moments were not as intense as the first series. There was so many moments in first series where you see Bikin breakdown and they are all quite intense.
4. Overall I still like the series and how it was handled. I know there are so many hates towards Teh and Jai for obvious reasons, but I think people needs to realize that they had to put the character shoes to better understand their action. Besides, not everything has to be fairytale.
5. Favorite moments are the subtle moments, and foreshadowing. The writers are so clever enough just like in first series to put those in.
I give it 9 out of 10, a point down from the first series.
The poster in the parking lot superimpositionining Oh and Teh.
And the fact that it was in 8, which in chinese culture is the luckiest number. We all know the two of them brings good fortune to each other because they slept on the same piece of lucky charm paper made by Teh's mom.
The movie feels like in the same vibe and universe/genre as the Ghost Lab. It will be nice to see another Thai Netflix movie that has the same feel - med students or doctors experimenting on something.

Sigh.

I'm on episode 4 now.
I was dreading to watch this because I genuinely fall in love with the first one.
And anyone here catch the chinese character in Teh's shirt during the workshop disaster between him and Jai? It literally translates to Moon Light.
And OMG THE CROSSOVER with my favorite Wilson Liu :)
