I mean, both "villains" are pretty well known actors and they are in the poster so there's not much "mystery"...
Most kdrama or movie mysteries end up a "rich known dude and his psychopathic son who takes after him" or a "gangsters kidnapping women so they can sell them for either body parts or for crazy rich dudes fantasies".. :)
this is more like an 8 or 8.5, but again, it's always a pleasure to see more Ma Dong Seok, so I give it a 9 ;)
the acting was great, the "mystery" and the plot were slightly weak, I got distracted after the 1 hour mark, then after 15 min they threw in a few "twists", then they spent the remaining 20 min trying to "wrap things up".. basically for a 1 hour 35 min story it was ok...
the subs were understandable though I found myself "understanding" alot of the dialog without even looking at the subs ;D
my favorite scene was when he broke down that door with his fists xD
he's a literal hulk ;)
I liked both main girls, I related to their perspectives..
guy num2 had a big inferiority complex, and girl num3 was way unnecessary, the only thing I didn't like was the fact that girl num2 was the one who told girl num3 to go after guy num1 when they knew he had a girlfriends and yet she'd have hated it if someone was after her own bf ;p
at this point I can handle badly subbed movies ;)
so I downloaded the movie from a torrent, then used the subs from here https://subscene.com/subtitles/the-soul-mate
I wish I didn't find this until it was fully out, they uploaded the sixth ep 11 hours ago, so I think the next ep will be next week? ;(
I knew it wasn't a simple "sad vr happy" ending, but this is really one of those well rounded endings, everything was solved, nothing was left out, and I guess, their main message was about hope and happiness...
I'm being shallow here, but for me, it gives me hope that beautiful dramas like this exist, though it makes me sad not enough people give something like this a shot..
the acting was amazing, not only from Lee Sung Min, but every character was great, and the whole story and the development was beautiful, almost every dramas talks about "revenge" and "forgiveness", but what this drama did was just so realistic and beautiful..
but I guess Woo Jin was a "psychopath", so I get it, but why did she stay quite? so this movie has a "unexpected twist" ;/
did she kill the loan shark? I don't know if they ignored that or I missed something... did he and Woo Jin make a deal and he sold Ji Min out? or did they both play a game on her and tried to make Woo Jin look like a hero who helped her pay back the guy he introduced her to?? or to take most of her money I guess....
then there's Jung Kyung Ho, he was Cha Je-Yi and Cha In-Tae's brother? where did he fit into this? did he drug them? why did they say at the end it was drug related, was the cop drugged too?? and they said 3 died, does that mean, Cha In-Tae, his sister, and Ji Min or Woo Jin??
this is that type of movie that wants to "go against all norms and be different"..
jimin is confused and hallucinates all throughout the movie, they have the car accident, the cop, the loan shark that was used as a way to drag this movie, and then they went for their "big reveal" and it was over.............
I did enjoy Nam Gyu Ri's acting though ;)
I guess their ending message was "no matter how cruel people are you can't be the judge", also I guess, "not forgiving someone seems like a big thing, but the other party doesn't feel it"
but yeah, I have 100 better endings, 1 being something most already talked about, red cry should've been an organization, though I guess most kdramas end it like that ;)
and stepmom is happily bonding with her daughter, her illness got cured, and her guilt is lifted!! killing her is not right, but it'd have been better if they didn't discover anything... she should've suffered with guilt....
and YTJ was caught too easily... atleast they should've told us what sentence did he get, execution? life? 10 years? he has 1 murder, 1 attempt murder and the rest is "plotting"...
atleast, atleast, I'd have hoped 2nd Se Kyung was not related to them, like they kidnapped her or something... as I said, the little boys vrs was better, CWK's was a cheap knockoff ;/
as I've said for while now, the "big" mystery was really disappointing, and I'd have loved more character development from the 3 main leads..
even the whole message behind this drama is not that original, it's actually kinda like death note, but more "realistic", and the ending was underwhelming, though I was scared they'd be too dramatic about it, they were super safe and it ruins it a little more..
the female lead was really interesting and so was Choi Woo Shik..
the fight scenes were kinda like a comic, the cgi's were bad, the whole story was slightly weak, and the ending was made for a sequel, so until then I'll just give it a 8.5 ;)
