Ah shui x Tang Lici, like any ship in this drama, is just that. There is no canon ship.

The novel was never heterosexual. Nor was it BL. And the same can be said for the drama.

Let’s be real. The only reason you people see them as the canon ship is because they’re of a m/f variety. And that’s just how it is with these dramas centered around male relationships. They have to dangle a heterosexual relationship without actually spelling anything out with absolute certainty to pass censorship. And I’m not even saying it’s censored BL. But without that, it may not pass.

I think it’s clear he has “affections” for a female character… just as he has affections for many of the men in his life as well. I know many want to see it as romance; but I see it as paternal affections only. And unless he returns her affections in a non-platonic way, I’m gonna keep believing that.

I’m already Ye Mo’s biggest defender. But I also defended Chu Mo so this isn’t much of a stretch for me. 🤣

Seriously, though. Tang Lici’s fate likely would have been similar if he hadn’t been saved by Fang Zhou.

I can’t wait to learn more about his lore.

Despite it not being overtly BL, the familiar tropes are definitely there.

It’s up for interpretation if you want cause censorship exists for writers too. But the novel was not technically BL.

He’s naturally thin so nothing to be done about it. He actually put on weight and looks healthy here I think. He put on even more weight filming Shadow Punisher recently, so please don’t worry. He takes very good care of his body.

I actually don’t mind her as an actress, but she’s not given much to work with here. The script does her no favors.

Even in the novel she wasn’t a favorite of mine. But here they’ve made her too pure and whitewashed thanks to censorship. Her character does nothing for me.

I’m pretty happy with the acting from most of the main supporting cast. I blame the script for a few performances that are maybe not as impressive. As for LYX, I think he will showcase his true acting prowess during the more emotional scenes coming up. We all know how good he is at digging deep to portray anguish, despair and grief. He truly excels at heightened emotions.
