Could not agree more! Yes, shame on Mango for promoting this “CP” to draw in romance viewers. But many kept repeating this isn’t romance! So to hate on a drama for not making them end game when that was never the focus is kind of lame to me.
Based on the comments, people really don’t know how to handle a morally ambiguous character other than to blindly hate on them.
When written well, those are usually the most fascinating characters to me.
And I saw someone say Liu Yan fans will forgive him but not Chunji? Well I don’t feel that way. I think the relationships on this show are messy and complicated. And I like that about it.

Some people can’t handle complex villains and it shows. I personally like the way he’s handled this character so far.
I think he’s complained about so much here because he gets more time and attention than a certain actress does. And most of these same people complain about the flashbacks too. Literally everything that is most important to Tang Lici is criticized here.
Oh I think I saw that as a rumor from a leaked script. But they’ll probably resolve their differences quickly. They’ll for sure be on the same side this time at least. 😭
