Yeah, there's that too. He's being workaholic to get his family back together. Thinking that he's the only one who needs to sacrifice and no one else should, especially being the eldest child.

That's exactly the point the writer wants to express here. There is a real world term for people like him "workaholic" and that term has been in used since 1971. In modern times, they use the politically correct term "career" man/woman. But let's just call it for what it really is, workaholism.

His character is what it's like to be a workaholic. Focusing on work and advancing one's career, not realizing they are sacrificing their personal lives, their families, and the people who matters to them most.

A lot of people are like that. One of my ex vehemently wanted to go abroad to work. I just stopped her because I don't believe we need to go abroad just to get by in life or be successful. And she's workaholic too, so yeah, we're ex now even after 15 years together.

There is one question there did not explain in episode 16, during the interview in episode 14, Hee Do said (or I think it was a monologue) "I will take care of everything".

Back in episode 14, I was suspecting Min Chae to be Yi Jin's daughter, that was why she said it.

But in episode 16, they set their break up in 2002 and Yi Jin stayed in the US for 7 years.

It would've been better if that was the case, because then "I will take care of everything" would make sense, and more powerful.

That revelation created:
1. "I will take of everything" meaningless and out-of-sequence.
2. Did Hee Do eventually marry Min Chae's father?
3. Was SoKor already that liberated back in 2006/2007?

Well, "once a cheater always a cheater" pretty much sums up your view of life and people who make mistakes.

I hope when you realise that when you made mistakes yourself, other people did not dismissed you as "once a cheater always a cheater" or "once a liar always a liar" or, let's just put it in simple terms "you'll never change".

As for the showing the 2021 narrative, the purpose of it is for the audience. They want to send a message that the present generation shouldn't be this and that because back in our time this and that were our lives.

"That, hey, present generation, life is hard, there is a pandemic, and wars. But you know what? Back in our days, life was already hard. There were already wars. Economies collapsed. Terrorism went to a whole new level."

This was noticeable when 2021 Hee Do explained how she's fully aware Min Chae is reading her diaries because she wants her to understand. It was a message not just for Min Chae but to all the young generation of today.

And as someone who was born in the early 80s, I can totally relate to 2021 Hee Do sending that message to Min Chae … and to the writer who wants to send a message to today's young generation.

Because everyone is throwing negatives, as if the writer was a total fool.
