I recently finished the anime and it was lovely. From what I've seen in the first episode, this adaptation is following it really closely. The individual introductions are unavoidable and it might feel awkward at first but it gets better once the characters properly meet and they start hanging out together

same here, i don't hate it either but exploring the aro/ace option would be nice too

thank you for the support heheh i was half joking as i know some people are very attached to romance and god forbid you say a character simply might not be interested in it like joon here. aroace people rarely, if ever, get acknowledged and while i'm not holding much hope for dramas to go there, it would still be nice to have it here as joon is very well portrayed

are we allowed to headcanon joon as somewhere on the aroace spectrum? i can't help seeing him as such and the last episode is the most relatable i've ever felt, how he says it's uncomfortable and how forcing himself into romantic situations just suffocates him (it feels even worse when there's a risk of losing a friend you truly love but just not like that) and when he says "i'm weird", it all just hit close to home as they're things i've felt and said to myself and still do

My God, Hira is so frustrating. Kiyoi putting up with him is the reason I know he's really in love. Tiny tiny steps but things finally started to improve by the end. I hope the movie will show more of Hira's growth that's been non existent so far, and that Kiyoi won't be the only one stuck doing all the emotional work in their relationship.

I agree with everything you said, especially about Hira not showing any growth at all. Those were exactly my thoughts and while I still like them that part bothered me. Even by this second season's end, it's once again Kiyoi the one with character development, he is softer and gentler, he is more open and he knows not to expect Hira to pick up on his cues and hints. I was like "finally!" lol but I'm afraid he's the one who will do most of the emotional work in their relationship and that makes me kinda sad for him >.<
