I liked that it has no misunderstandings, clear CP and chemistry between the leads from start to end. A happy ending. Its a fantasy story and has modern elements with some "more chinese comedic touches". It is quite a simple story to follow - some xian xia can be complicated with people being reborn or losing their memories or many males/harem like or too many side characters introducing angst to the leads. It has a good mix of action and good looking people in the supporting cast hahaha. I would suggest she try at least up to episode 10 if she enjoys it before giving it up or choosing something else.
K drama can be great too. Many brilliant dramas out there. If she likes the more game of thrones type, she can try watching Nirvana in Fire (old but very very good political drama) or even Scarlet Heart (also has the ML in one of the roles) Those were all very good dramas of different genres.. K Drama has even more hits.

Are you sure that Koalaplayground is a fan hired by ZhaoLiying? Where is the evidence to suggest that. Why is a fan hired by Zhao Liying focused on Kdramas? She doesnt even state that she likes Zhao Liying in her favorite list. No one here is mentioning ZLY or comparing YM and her. The listed favourites include LIU SHI SHI and lots of K drama people.. why would a LIYING fan write so little about her works but focus on k drama?

Yes I loved the acting, he took care of her with such care and LGX did it so well. He looked grieved but still carried on. Until it was done, he was sitting outside to then deal with his emotions. Very nicely done. I especially liked the phoenix feathers being shown and how he was admiring it. Very intimate and yet so emotive!

If they did it that way, less people will notice the drama or want to watch it. They needed those leads to get people interested in the drama. And they tried to bypass that by indicating it was not romance driven but a family drama. i.e they wanted the leads to bring in the viewers but they had not planned for a romance drama.
