Oh I just read on weibo that they explained it did have lines between them but LiYing thought it was best to just state that she had her mother's eyes and just end it with looks for dramatic effect. They wanted the effect of just "eye power acting"

Babe you continue to watch, I believe they do explain it. He in my view is the saddest character in the entire series... XZ at least enjoyed his earlier years and is powerful in his own right, Mofang also had SL for many years as a companion and friend.. only him and his wife... totally tragic through no fault of their own. DAMN

Totally agree.... in fact the entire realm looked and were portrayed as kinda of "useless" and yes minus XZ they are really nothing....but maybe that is really to contrast the 2 realms where the other side has really been the protector (and reinforces the reason why SL did not want to marry a useless idiot)

Eh... my guess is that it won't help? I mean the dude has been imprisoned "forever", he doesnt know he had a daughter.. let alone what is a son in law?! He was looking for his loved on the minute he got the chance... But for the "father" issue... eh yeah there is some discussion over whether she should have said something. I cannot recall in the novel if she did.

Agree they really did a lot more for the characters then the novel did in some respects :) In any case, both the novel and the drama were fantastic!

Totally agree with and the adaptations fleshed out stuff and made some comedic or dramatic moments. I can now read the novel with them in my mind for all time.. I liked the novel but it was not epic for me. The drama on the other hand deserves to be in one of the top drama for all times (at least for xianxia for sure) Plus the leads .. omg ... I cannot imagine anyone else but them now for the characters!

I think Yang Mi has a new drama coming out. They pushed back the opening (so i hear) because they didnt want to fight head on with this drama (Didnt want a ratings fight)... I did really like her in the Ten Miles but I also didn't like her in others... so its going to be interesting. That new drama is also based on a novel I believe.

ZLY on the other hand might not be doing any more xianxia.... she has moved to other modern and challenging roles so unless the script is a really good one, it might not be easy to see her in another.

But well with this mega hit for both leads, I am sure there are people who will clamour to offer other productions to them. I can only hope they work together again!!

It is based on a novel that is straight forward. It is at its heart a love story between 2 leads and their growth together. It can seem slow at parts and there are no messy complicated issues. I would suggest just trying it out and see if you can get to episode 8 and then decide. The first arc is 'slow' but required. Me who doesn't like xianxia actually loved it. But I don't enjoy the 'usual xianxia' genre.

Watching should be fun. Don't force yourself just because some of us are mad about it.

Yeah I think some fans think he has started to feel real affection for her.. but I think knowing him as a "supporter" of both of their and their love story, it seems more like that he is also sad about her losing him and still wrapped up in the loss. He was also sad when Shen Li "died" and XZ was all distraught.... so possibly the same kind of feel there... But well we presume!

Cannot be helped, honestly this is not the genre I would normally watch. So this was an exception for me. So I can appreciate that not everyone likes it. And the pacing is also one thing that I had to push through initially (although I did like it from the start) but saying that there is a lack of chemistry is a bit too much... I have seen too many where the chemistry is soo forced... especially for the xianxia type.... (no hate but i couldnt get into Blue whisper or ancient love poetry - and I actually am ok with both leads from both dramas)

Have you watched the entire series? They do kiss for longer. But I think both actors are not known to have many kissing scenes in their dramas... they dont "practise" much hahahhaha

I think there is no change.. typically hairstyle changes are for colouration to depict grief or weakness like XZ when he was first "reborn"

I think the adaption to drama is brilliant plus the comedic parts that the novel did not have... excellent piece of work..... already started to rewatch from the start again.... hahahahha I dont have the heart to follow another drama as yet!
