love and hate this drama, epic visuals but low rewatch value. plot is good if you like a xianxia hero story but not if you seek angst. it's like comparing a refined pearl to a hard cut ruby, straightforward and feel-good yet a bit corny. 8.7 is still a good rating

yk how he sent qinshiyue to work at the same company as her? it's seen as a romantic gesture like oo i wanna see you every day but they both act without informing each other and they keep each other on thin ice. it wasn't just lies when she said that qinshiyue did make her jealous at one point when she saw them together. if any mistake can result in a misunderstanding, the other side should be there to listen. she approached him for an interview and didn't throw herself on him just to get it. he was already captivated by her talent prior to that. every single second they spent on dates were just thrown in the trash once he decided "she stuck with me as a revenge tactic" even though they spend so much time together. he chose to ignore all of the memories just for the conclusion of "yep she likes ye xingzhou" after hearing how shitty of a person he was from the driver guy, and witnessing it himself at that hotpot restaurant

c*ck-block is vulgar -- now it's become slang for "preventing something from doing anything". ep28 ends with qinshiyue telling him "shouldnt the guy take the initiative sometimes?" and his eyes light up as if he's arrived upon a revelation. if he blocks her on wechat and refuses to see her how tf does she have an opportunity to come clean, in the couch scene she shouldnt always avoid the elephant in the room but she didnt ghost him (meaning completely ignoring messages)

atm she's tryna make her intentions clear and he's cockblocking her from all sides and in all ways possible, he has every right to feel hurt but he jumped to the conclusion that "oh it must be for revenge" and didn't try to give a second thought to it or hold on hope that her explanation would ease the pain at least somewhat

i adore any drama that has BL in it regardless of script (ex The Legends, even though plot seemed a bit dragged out it was watchable and id rewatch it w/o hesitation) but OFL has changed my entire view. im willing to sit through the first watch just to not miss the ending, but 10/10 cast on a shit script is like painting a trash bag gold. it's still trash. the "angsty" moments are meant to make you frustrated like i so wish they were together, but my frustration is like "god damn how do grown adults have such low EQ". i love to rant about how much i appreciate a drama, but OFL is an exception. i could type a full 5 page essay about how shit the script is <3
