Same here, i attempted to watch it but after hearing energy ,souls,alchemy ,body for the millionth time i decided to give it a rest ,for now.Fantasy dramas are not really my thing and there were so many fight scenes .Like you, i wondered what they were trying to achieve and its having 20 episodes didn't help matters .I'm definitely not going to rate it ,that would be unfair and who knows i might return to it some other time .

I hope you aren't confusing his acting with the character. people tend to criticise actors and claim they are bad actors, when the truth is they just don't like a character.That's why same people who claim xyz is a very bad actor in drama A, will turn around and say he was so good in drama B . Kim Nam Gil is doing a very good job of playing van, a half demon /human who has been ground down by centuries of living a life he was forced into.
