I have just watched ep 1. I guess they use warlord / republican era setting. Nana's wardrobe is so damn adorable! they dress her up with british or french style. there were a time when British and French Concession took place in China. anyway, towards the end of Qing dynasty, many well off Chinese people more open to western culture. like, the way they dress up and behave. still western cannot change their belief. and yes, ML is so damn like western vampire. if it follows chinese custom, then we will get ML jumping crazily like vampire in Chinese ghost story. LOL

I guess vampire of this drama had a sense of western vampire. This drama came at the bad time of strict censorship. As far I remember, there was Li Yi Tong (?) and Leon Zhang (?) / ZZH(?) 's drama about vampire demon.
I used to addicted to this drama. Watched it in 2000's in my childhood. Very emotional and getting on my nerves, especially in romance part😂😂😂. Great adventure drama and everybody excels in acting.

Indeed. Especially for broadcasting in PRC. Other region like HK and Taiwan don't really dub their drama. But I think I saw HK movies dubbed. Japan, Korea never dubbed their drama. Dubbing is done only for anime and foreign drama/ movie.
Chapter 1. I know wherever you are, single mother always had it hard. Chapter 2 is too predictable and boring. Chapter 3 is bizzare. They tease us to think, "if the costumer were beautiful and slim, would the delivery man fell for her?" They played safe by showing us that the delivery man was busy with start-up thing, thus had no time for flirting. I agree if it gets low rating. No objection. Only a few actors dub their own characters in c drama/movie. The rest is using voice actor. It is a common practice. I think it is not always because they have bad pronunciation. Sometimes their voice tone don't match the character. I. e, woman's natural high pitch voice may not suitable for a character as a calm wise young lady. Some actors just have bad pronunciation in std mandarin language.
Some professional actors may took vocal coaching class. Usually they can control/adjut their voice to fit the character. Or they just learn by independently.
But, some actors may think there is no need to take vocal coaching.
