Couldn't finish watching considering the ML actor was sentenced to 10 months in prison for domestic violence. The violence in the drama seemed too real...
Thank you for your kind comments and support. 😊Despite some issues I had with the narrative I was engrossed…
Exactly, it's so frustrating. And yeah, I fear your husband's comment is correct xD It's why (even though I love them) I get a little sad with those "returned to the past to enact revenge" dramas bc even so there was a timeline where the main leads suffered T_T

Agreed, 100%. I did recently find out that they were forced to cut down the episode count to suit the new drama standards, which might be why some things didn't make sense. But even so, with the time travel timeline I think it still would have been not the greatest.
I agree with your review. While I rated it a bit higher then you, all of your points are exactly why this show didn't get a 10, when about halfway through the show I really thought it would get a full score for me.
Ironically, as a person who doesn't enjoy BEs, I feel like this show's destined ending was the pre-rewinding time ending, where everyone but Wu Shiguang sacrificed themselves. I think this would have gone so much better with the overall tone of the entire show due to, like you said, the pain porn.
The last time travel part was the nail in the coffin -- it made no sense and doesn't explain most of the consequences... While I still think the drama had a lot of really good parts, they tried to do way too much in only so many episodes.
Agree with this! While it was definitely not what I would define as good, I'm very grateful to the team for trying and successfully getting this show done. Same as you, I watched it mostly to support the team. There were scenes where I just plain fast-forwarded and/or just did something else while watching. The dubbing was probably the worst part for me - I'm not sure if it was the sound mixing or just the dubbing itself, but it definitely made me laugh. As for Huai'en's acting, I would agree he's not the best, but he's not terrible. I'm almost certain the majority of the show's issues would be solved with a bigger budget, but I'm hoping this is a step in the right direction.
are you sure you actually want to watch it? You just asked for the whole story line 🤣
Some people like knowing these things before watching, it actually makes it more enjoyable for them. Just like some people read the last page first, and then start reading from the beginning of a book. Let's not judge others' way of enjoying things.
Honestly all the forced pairing they tried to do except leads are all worst seriously.
I can't agree with a comment more. Su Hong Chen and Tan Sang Yu were the characters that irked me the most. Hong Chen was so biased and annoying. Sang Yu was so childish (I mean I get she's 18 but her brother is literally fighting for their lives and here she is just acting like there's no problem at all) that I had to skip her scenes.
I was never a fan of military dramas but this one right here changed my mind. This drama is exceptionally good,…
Lol sounds like the military propaganda worked on you! But I agree that the story was really good - I've not watched a Chinese Republican drama before and I think the writing was great.
Agreed. The villain origin story just made me madder. I understand that it's to remind us that horrible people are still just that, people. But we don't need more humanizing stories of horrible people - we need to tell more stories of those victimized by them.
I also agree with the last "what if" episode. It was unnecessary and made me feel worse about everything.
Agreed, I don't know how they'll redeem him because his actions in this episode honestly make me doubt if I could…
Look, I get where you're coming from, but there is never an excuse for bullying. People have had it worse and haven't bullied. People have had it better and have bullied. I understand that it's high school, but as a victim of bullying, for me what he did is inexcusable. I hope the writers don't just expect us to be okay with what he did once they start falling in love -- he's going to have to actually show remorse and do a lot of making up to the people he bullied for me to ever accept him as a love interest.
