It feels preachy, I don't mean it as negative. Regardless of that , At least it is not shown a Japanese as cartoonish villains. Japanese most of time is invisible force that Chinese and KMT fight. A director very often shown a beauty of commoners life which is way smarter and elegant to grown sympathy for the audience.
