It feels preachy, I don't mean it as negative. Regardless of that , At least it is not shown a Japanese as cartoonish villains. Japanese most of time is invisible force that Chinese and KMT fight. A director very often shown a beauty of commoners life which is way smarter and elegant to grown sympathy for the audience.
This drama feels like Japanese Taiga drama. Seems big budget but preachy with predictable plot because the message they wanted to convey. People speaking in very long slow conversation. It have 42 million views in China but overseas no one watch it.
