Finished it. I enjoyed it , it is great one. They try to do many different things and some unique take of Xianxia. TSL have unique comedy, TTEOTM have interesting aesthetic. I must say Huxin have unique FL. ZY doing a great job as YH.
The best part of the drama is relationship between FL and ML. It is the most sensible and realistic relationship on xianxia. When YH get hurt, she can forgive but not third times. Which show characteristic of her that she is kind heart but kindness have a limit. TY needs to do lot of things to reconcile with her. Great character development and both lead pretty much carried the show.
Story wise it is kinda predictable and little bit flat on so many parts ( outside of FL and ML ). It is not badly written minds you. Actually writing is really nice but it is little bit lack of suspense and tension. There is no moment " I wanted to watch next episode " from this drama. The fact I just finished and have no rush to finish it speak volume. There are angsty moments but sadly it is also predictable angsty. The weakest part definitely villain. Storyline around Dark Lord kinda interesting but Dark Lord just not menacing and bland. I don't feel danger from him. He feels like a pawn of Dark Lord instead Dark Lord himself. Su Ying is better villain but she is just not appearing much.
BXS lost his charm after he become typical SML. I hear he don't exist in novel and created solely for the drama. But instead create unique story for him and have him do something cool, they turn him into predictable naggy SML role. But I think Riley appearance as BXS is cool especially first half when he is so carefree and naughty.
Another I liked is natural relationship between side characters. Lot of side characters are great.
Both SY and LMS loved each other . But after getting affected by Fu yin's curse LMS fell ill and probably lost…
Yes. That's what I am talking about. It need a flashback how LMS lost memory than meet Yunxi. So far they only told and do not show. They never show LMS and Yunxi together as well.
I love drama when they go back to earlier episode setting or location for nostalgia. In this drama, it is even plot device for TY to get his memory back.
Just search Sauinkoku Monogatari. It is pretty famous anime/manga back in the day. In nutshell, it is historical palace drama with FL that stood out among men. She need to face a prejudice to work at Imperial Government.
