I can't believe they ruined the show with the last 7 episodes. The chemistry is no longer there. Their relationship is Dead. I wish the series ended with both jumping off the cliff instead of separating. The 5 years jump is nonsense!
I know this is fantasy and all but what a dark series despite the 'comedic' tone. I wouldn't say host are scum of the earth because they are just people who usually come from poverty and most likely abusive, chaotic upbringings. Taking advantage of the lonely people with self esteem issues that come to the club is how they survive. But the clients also take advantage of them, some of them are straight predatory, so it's a horrible cycle. However, romanticizing relationships between host and clients is not one of my preferred tropes. The dynamic between them is unhealthy and parasitic from both sides.
Also the FL needs serious therapy first, stalking is never funny for the victim, she basically terrorized her ex. I usually like flawed characters but this is one major red flag flaw I can't overlook because she doesn't seem to realize what she did was wrong, I hope she changes by the end of the series. At the same time, it's also horrible the abuse she gets from the people around her.
Also how are teachers responsible more than parents? Why would she need to get involved to protect the student from the host club before her parents? I just find it absurd and since I've seen it in so many J-dramas I wonder if this happens in real life, there's no smoke with no fire, no? Everything in this dramas is just unhinged.
Having said that, I'm still gonna watch it past this first episode because despite the crazy plot.
I'm really surprised about how much I'm enjoying this show. Was tempted to drop it after the first episode but since then it's been better and better. My face hurts from smiling so much from watching these two. They're my new OTP.
Btw, I love that your thumbnail is our precious Liu Yuning. I watched Prisoner of Beauty not that long ago and was obsessed with it.
