The FL has cried harder for the sml than for the ML. I get he's her "friend" or whatever. But it's kinda…
Other than the one attempt on his life, the ML was never in a position to get those types of tears. He was never seriously injured, he didn’t die. He was fine throughout most of the drama, when would that have happened? I’d tell your wife to run because that’s wild. Before CYY came into her life, he was a close friend. She already explained it. That was her bestie, male or not. There is also a difference between gravely injured and knowing he was alive vs someone that’s dead and never coming back.
I don't like it, because I can't understand how they became friends. Any normal person would have distanced themselves;…
They became friends because she had as much fire as him. It’s not that hard to see, I think there is a difference if you just don’t the weight but it’s not confusing as to how they became good friends.
His death was premeditated, had no impact on the narrative, and part of the audience didn't even care. I think…
Doesn’t always have to some big impact on the narrative. It was impactful for the characters, it was impact for some of the audience (because not everyone likes everything bc) & it was fitting for him to die as a commander after being told his life that he couldn’t be a soldier
Of all the main characters, the most wronged was YX. What kind of sad ending is that for a character that nobody…
Who is nobody? Plenty of people like his character, plenty didn’t want him to die and wanted to see him live. You weren’t sad, that doesn’t mean other people weren’t
So, they killed off a character that almost nobody liked? Wow, that's sad. They learned how not to do things properly,…
Wasn’t really almost nobody. A lot of people like his character. I am almost certain that game of thrones wasn’t there reference point. Plenty of home grown Chinese dramas to draw from. Also, they does it have to add anything? Who did you want to die instead? The main leads? Xi yian death was fitting for his character. That’s what was important, yeah, we knew he would die but him being able to die as the soldier they told him he couldn’t be is the important factor.
he didn’t force him to marry to that other girl he did give him a choice
But some would, that’s the difference. He wasn’t ready to fight for her and their future. If he really wanted, I’m sure his uncle would’ve found a way or supported him as long as he knew the risk. He didn’t even want to try.

I did watch Blossoms in Adversity! And new life begins! I’ve thought Sword and the Brocade, I actually watched like the first 2 eps and I felt so bad for the wife that I was like, do I really want to root for the fl to be with this guy? What were your thoughts? Should I give it another try?

I saw prisoner of beauty and legend of the female general but I wouldn’t say they’re like a splendid match and story of minglan. The rest either but fated hearts was on my mental watch list
This reply was kinda rude, given the person just didn't agree with you. Someone not agreeing with you doesn't mean they're not really watching. I agree with the OP. Everything you highlighted in your reply are true things but they didn't express that through his character. We've never seen him be upset with his lot in life. Even in tiny ways. The way they set up his arc, was even if he didn't get the girl, he might be mature, silently sad but not going on mad-up revenge filled bender. We don't get to see him pining over the fl, there no lingering doubt filled looks when he looks at his family before his evil turn.
The writing could've done so much more, so show that he was upset with his lot and life and let his be the straw that broke the camel's back. And it's only after he didn't get the girl that we get all of his internal struggle but that internal struggle was NOT something they showed about him. It would've made sense for Yi Xian to go dark villain route given what we know, we SEE him struggle his lot in life (Yi Xian) and we SEE how JZ became like an only light for him.
With, Chen Xuan Qing we see that he likes JZ but we don't see how much an impact she has on his life that she would be the straw that broke the camel's back. They could've done a TON more to build up his transition and make it make sense. He could've been a great character and even his character was written well on paper, they didn't due to justice to his character change.
And even more, it's okay to not agree with someone take but it's not great to dismiss someone with saying they didn't watch the show because they don't agree.
I like that you pointed out the disparity, because I didn’t see it until you mentioned it. He does tell her…
He can’t see her writing a letter to Yi Xian for help and then see her with Yi Xian and comment they’ve grown close & her wanting to help not realize they’re friends.
things ive watch....
Story of Minglan
Perfect Match
Glory (currently watching)
Si Jin
Rise of Ning
yeah, i'd main to be focus and have romance but i'd also like to see more with the side characters and etc, really more like the Story of Minglan
