It may be a coincidence since chinese people don't uaually watch foreign shows.
Urban youth does watch them, mainly through legal Chinese video streaming services, which sometimes even offer subtitles instead of dubbing. Some US dramas have been very popular and highly rated, like all of the seasons of Breaking Bad, Friends, The Big Bank Theory, Sherlock, Walking Dead, Game of thrones. Some of them even older (House of Cards, Prison Break, 24, Growing Pains). But I understand what you mean: Although the number of viewers of these foreign shows may be good for other countries , they are nothing in a 1.4 billion people country, with more than 3,000 TV channels, 5 official languages, hundreds of dialects.
I was bored and about to put it on hold during the first episodes, but then I became invested in all the stories and ended up rating it 9.5. A very well-done and emotional acting and script, in my opinion.
Please read the comment above that I posted yesterday, with many lists of huge age gaps among celebrity couples. Also, please be very kind and delete the adjective "creepy" from your comment. I think it's offensive to the many couples with age difference in the world, including MDL members (i.e., ChessWidow above) and my sister-in-law and my cousin, 10 and 13 years younger than her husbands, respectively.
Well then i hope she is ready to leave her job and be a full time house wife and child bearer because that is…
This article is so stupid and click-baiting, that I agree with the majority of the comments. But yours? I was going to tell you that you even took the opportunity to judge the personal values of someone you haven't ever met in your life, as if you were God, and spreading more rumors/hate from an interview 9 years old (and people do change monthly, imagine years), taking the opportunity with this article's tiny baseless piece of fake rumor. However, I'm not going to tell you any of this or judge your values, because I haven't ever met you either.
For those commenting about the 10-year gap in this drama, in recent years I've read here in MDL about many Asian couples that got married with at least 10 years gap. My memory is not good, I only remember that last year Namkoong Min got married and he's 11 years older than his wife. But luckily, the web is full of lists of real life Asian celebrity couples with 10 or more years gap who are happily married. In case anyone is curious, here are some of them:
