Ikr. I totally agree with you,. Usually I drop romance drama just because I can't stand the FL, I faund the FL's…
I agree, the FL can be the death of the drama for me. I don’t know why they think dim, bubbly and a stalker is the perfect character for a FL. Its not, it’s annoying.

I really also enjoyed:

Love is Sweet (modern romcom) both leads have lovely wardrobes (kdrama level), unusual for modern cdrama, haha. Both leads equally matched.

Romance of the Tiger and Rose (sort of historical Chinese drama (I say sort of because the FL is modern girl who finds herself stuck in ancient China) FL is very funny.

Put Your Head on My Shoulder (University drama) FL is bubbly but not stupid or a doormat, she also doesn’t worship the ground ML walks on.

Fall in Love (modern romcom) the leads don’t have any misunderstandings. It is less polished than, say, Love is Sweet because none of the actors are big names and it has a small budget, but I enjoyed it a lot!

This is going to be unpopular but I’m disappointed in Shen Yue. For me, she hasn’t developed since Meteor Garden (please don’t bash me! I love Shen Yue, I’ve watched most of her dramas and she’s really cute and lovely in variety shows).

But she’s really awkward, almost uncomfortable when she’s supposed to like someone (kiss scenes mainly). There’s also no gracefulness as a maturing girl, or a good portrayal of longing as part of a couple falling in love. It’s more obvious she’s lacking in this area when she’s paired with Jasper Liu, who is really attractive and sexy in a grown up way.

If you love her in this, that’s great. I just wanted to know if anyone thought the same as me.

i really don't like the changes they made from the original, it screwed up the pacing and made the character/relationship…
Thanks for letting us know. I’m really skeptical of this version anyway, the trailer made it look like a Jasper Liu fan service... and Shen yue doesn't seem particularly mature in this role. I liked the characters in the Korean version. She was kind and mature but a bit lost, he was childish, uptight, but also kind.

Also, because I’m coming from a comparative aspect with the kdrama, i really don't like Shen Yue’s clothes. I’ve never found a kdrama to have ugly clothes, but often find chinese productions do. This is one of those examples. Her hair is childish and her clothes big and ugly :(

I am pretty sure her hair changes later in the story. I have noticed the same strange single braid/plait has been…
I noticed that as well! I wish they’d given Shen Yue a more grown up style. The hairstyle she has in real life, with a grown out fringe and longer bob looks lovely.

Not about the plot or anything, but why do some dramas not change the main lead’s hair, EVER? It’s unrealistic when they have their hair tied up the same in the morning and night... after a bath... in the hospital. ALL the time with the signature hair.

Maybe they think we won’t recognise the FL character from other characters the actress has played if she changes her hair? O.o But it takes me out of the drama because it’s so fake. It happened in Lucky’s first love too, when she slept, bathed and woke up with the same (rubbish wig) hair!

I loved this. The FL was a breath of fresh air. She looks different from the typical fringe wearing baby-faced wide eyed girls they usually cast in university dramas. And her character says the things she thinks. This is AMAZING. She doesn’t just keep her worries bottled up and get mad at ML for no reason like a child. She respects the ML but doesn’t worship him, this is also good. At no point does she stalk him, go quiet in awe of his presence, write him a love note, or make him cakes. It is a healthy adult relationship.

I love Miles Wei, and he was perfect in this. I loved him since Fall in Love, I'm so glad he's getting ML parts now! So handsome.

The fashion and make up was spot on. Bad make up and clothes can really take you out of the production, but everything here was on point. Natural make up, nice clothing. I saw no caked on foundation.

Chemistry was excellent. Lots of butterflies. No unnecessary dramatics. I miss this drama already!

I am kind of curious to check this out. I really like Zhao Lusi but I kind of don't like big age gaps...what should…
Just watch half of this? before the romance really gets going, haha. She’s pretty cute in it. The ML looked way too much like an uncle for my liking (not gonna lie, his ‘moves’ and kisses grossed me out), and plot really starts to go nowhere. But zhao lusi cooking in first few episodes is good.

I have watched the first two episodes of "My Little Happiness" and it is a very hard sell. Everything just felt…
I’m so glad I’m not the only one. I tried the first episode of MLH and lots of clips, but I just can’t seem to like either the ML and FLs characters.

I thought Daddi Tang’s romancing of the FL was really cringey and, you’re right, awkward is the word. I found he was giving me stressface instead of feels.

I’m surprised by the low rating. As a feel good drama about youthful ambition with a sweet romance, it is perfect.

I got here because I was not convinced by Daddi Tang in My Little Happiness. I don’t know if it was the bad make up, bad styling, the suave romancing (too Xing Zhao Lin), or the super wholesome FL, but I wanted to see what everyone else was seeing in Daddi Tang, so I tried this drama. I wasn’t disappointed. He’s really handsome and sharp in this. His character is very funny, and completely at odds with him in PYHOMS and MLH. The FL is also amusing, styled well and behaves according to her age. I love love love their romance!

Disclaimer: I may have FF some bits without the leads...

I love the ML, even though looks-wise he isn’t modern day hot, his acting makes him very attractive. Bai Lu is obviously beautiful, and even though I didn’t like the plot and how slow things were to move romantically, I thought their chemistry was brilliant.

However, can I just gripe about FL make up and clothes? She had such heavy make up for someone who was supposedly naive and didn’t care for using feminine wiles. If they’d kept her make up neutral it would have made her transformation to dancer and concubine much more stunning.
Her hair was also horrible. Her wonky buns and huge off-centre bun were obviously fake and looked tacky. I actually found the SFL (Du Xiao Xian) had much nicer and more elaborate hairstyles. And the horrible rags. And the dancing, the random bad dancing. But apart from that I liked it. Haha. Rant over.

But why no more lead roles for the ML???

Cheng chemg shorts are too short, seriously why they dress her up like that.
I was going to say it about Cong Rong. She has super short work shorts in a working late with her boss scene and I swear she flashed the bottom of her bum cheeks! :0

I think he is handsome but they gave him a bad haircut. When it is gelled back it makes him look less handsome…
Yeah, I agree. I just Googled and he’s styled better in Way Back into Love. He has his hair down there.

We get it, the director thinks men look sexy when they’re straight out of the shower... I feel like there are a few too many scenes with ML and wet hair though :/ And I feel like it comes across as corny rather than sexy! But maybe that’s because the characters seem more like they’re out of a teenage drama than an adult one (I mean an adult one like Love is Sweet, where there was quite clear sexual tension).

I still don’t quite find the ML that attractive yet. Although often if the acting and character are swoony I will change my opinion quickly enough, haha. But I hope my opinion will change when I watch it. I am still only watching clips, as i would like to binge on this one!

Title My Little Happiness Spoiler
Wahhh! I just saw a clip of the confession scene in ep 11 and for real started tearing up. It was so emotional! He’s so gentle and sincere.

Although I read somewhere she plays hard to get after the confession *rolls eyes.* They should avoid all the drama. PYHOMS and Love O2O had almost no melodrama and were still perfect to watch!

I rewatched the first ep of PYHOMS to compare his makeup??
I remember thinking Xing Fei and the rest of the cast looked very fresh faced in PYHOMS. You didn’t notice their make up. I can see what Vi Dao means about Xing Fei looking caked in make up here though. They should fire the make up artist!

Back to the drama (which I’ve only watched clips of) and I like the two leads though. I love the scene where ML tells FL she’s doing her job well and she feels validated by his support. It’s very sweet. Their chemistry will outshine the bad make up! Yeah!

I got used to it after awhile. He really does draw you in as Dr. Wen.
That’s good. I’m definitely going to watch it anyway, there’s such good chemistry, and I love Xing Fei. Just waiting for the episodes to build up so I can binge!

Haven’t watched first ep yet, just clips on YouTube. The amount of make up on the ML is distracting me! The dark eyebrow pencilling, heavy foundation and the shimmering eyeliner is taking me away from the acting :/

I dont know, but I cant like the SML not when he in legend of yunxi or in this drama... he's role always kind…
He has cheesy facial expressions! It’s when he’s being playful. He’s much better when he’s depressed or angry, haha. I really like him, but weirdly, only as a SML. Not too interested in seeing him as ML.
