There are a lot of Chinese fan theories. One of the ones I liked involves zhixi going to the mortal world to tell YD that YY’s mortal body cannot hold his heavenly powers and he needs to die to become YY, so that’s why YD stabs him. It looks like they manage to live together for a while as TZ and YD (with her memories back) only for her to stab him (and possibly save him with the artefacts?). The fan theory posits that YD’s voiceover where she says she now understands him when he rejected her and said he had to protect the three realms, what she now understands is that to love someone, you have to protect what they want to protect, which is her and the three realms.
Goddammit, give me some more immortal samsara so I don’t have to spend my whole days reading fanfiction!! :(
There’s a new dramatic romance trailer with new clips. But the voiceover and subtitles are out of sync so it’s hard to tell who is saying what. But beggars can’t be choosers! I’m just happy with new footage of my YY/YD couple.
And ppl claims she's a silly white sweet type 🙄 did u even watch the show. This is a clever girl. Antis shod…
Wow, you're rather unpleasant. I’m only giving an opinion, like you can give yours without people being rude.
Naive usually describes someone with less informed worldview (e.g a sheltered teenager would be naive to the ways of the world). But it isn’t a synonym of stupid as you seem to suppose. So yes, YD is clever, but you can be both clever and naive. They are not mutually exclusive. YD is naive, to suppose that the emperor would risk the peace of heaven to say he loved her is to not understand the responsibilities he has or the full repercussions.
‘Naive is like when someone believes something easily’ - the word you’re looking for here is ‘gullible’, which can be a trait a naive person has, but is not the definition of naive.
I love how YD is not like typical cdrama FL with zero braincells but actually much more wiser.
I love her growth. At the beginning she is naive and wilful and doesn’t understand why he doesn’t just fight against the heavenly laws.
But in the voiceover for one of the trailers you hear her say she finally understands him when he said he had to care for the world and didn’t have room for anything else. My guess, and hope, is that she understands that as Emperor he has a responsibility to bring peace to the three realms. And through understanding that, still loving him and sharing his responsibilities she shows the heavenly realm that love is an asset and not a hindrance to his duties. (Since that is why love is prohibited)
Since YY didn't openly neither personally manifested his support to her in that situation, I can see why YD really…
This was before the bridge but after he sentenced her. But the scene where he goes to visit her after he wakes up and she denies it was her who saved her, I thought that scene was full of tenderness. But maybe it’s because we can see how hard it is for YY to see yd putting her sister above herself.
From what I remember, it's Zhi Shi - Yan Dan's twin who was manipulated and by that Lamp Lady. Also, she saw herself…
I’m watching out of sequence, so I may have it wrong. But lamp lady is so obvious. Can’t work out if she’s truly in love with YY or just wants him because he’s powerful.
I have realized that TZ is basically YY but with a lot less responsibilities/ expectations. If the same amount…
There’s an interview with Cheng Yi and he says that exactly. That the circumstances in which TZ was raised means he is much freer in the way he speaks and acts.
I’m watching from clips (cannot do angst in real time) and I was pleased with how YD’s character was very resolute and forward about her feelings for YY. (Because YD is similar to jin mi I think the comparisons are inevitable. Jin mi was always so helpless and gormless in love)
But I’m disappointed with how easily manipulated she is here. There’s a scene where the lamp lady is making yd believe YY is kicking her out of yan xu palace, and with everything lamp lady has done, why believe her? YY may not openly show he loves yd but he has always been caring, so she should at least know he wouldn’t say horrible things about her. I just…. Argh! I understand YD is young and innocent, but she’s a scriptwriter! She has to know some people are just vindictive.
On a lighter note, in one of the new clips where TZ is in bed and YD is sitting beside him he says ‘屁股起来’ to YD which translates as move your butt, haha. It’s definitely a very casual way of speaking that YY doesn’t have.
The way TZ looked at YD when he’s going to accept the Taoist bracelet which means he is forsaking earthly bonds and love made me so sad. He is so conflicted, he doesn’t know what he has with YD yet, but it already pains him to give it up :(
hah, ppl sure are biased towards the more popular stars. their xianxia even if its generic ML FL relationship…
Xianxia has the same themes, but so does every genre, e.g romcom/fantasy. It all depends on the actors and the scripts and how well the story is told. Immortal Samsara is much better than others in terms of pacing, story and acting at the moment.
I’ve seen lots of xianxia where the story/characters/acting is subpar. It’s not easy to land a hit with xianxia. But a popular xianxia can weave really intricate storytelling and make you experience emotions you just can’t with modern drama, there’s a reason why it’s one of the most popular novel genres in China.
Do you happen to know what the writing on the photo says?
The caption says ‘I don’t mind where, when or what kind of love, but was there ever a moment where you felt love for me? My heart has chosen this path, I will love no one else but you.’
It sounds like the line YD says when she’s on the cliff top. But I suspect this is the full line from the novel? (Sorry, I’ve only watched the clips. I can’t watch in real time. Too stressful!)
Nah CY's real voice isn't showing up...Youku you deceitful wrench! to the heavenly gallows you shall go!
CY has a detectable accent, and they’re very strict in historical dramas. Both because the lines are more demanding and the accent has to be neutral in a xianxia setting. Whatever you think of YZ’s voice, she doesn’t have an accent and she has perfect enunciation when she speaks her lines.
That said, I was watching a Chinese drama segment about the push towards actors dubbing themselves which suggested CY will use his own voice when playing his father Xuan Ye. The voice is much deeper and his lines are fewer than when he is YY or TZ. But since it hasn’t been broadcast yet we will see!
