i’ve seen a handful of wang xing yue’s dramas, and he never really stood out to me—until xiao heng. among all the femal leads i've seen him with, i think he has the best chemistry with wu jin yan. i loved their flirty banter, but i wish they had more time together in the last episode.

i think initially it was to taunt her? because fangfei’s nickname is also li.

basically, wei yan was set up by the late emperor because he was suspicious of everyone around him, including his own son. he also felt bitter toward consort qi, who was in love with wei yan. he decided to shoulder all the blame for 17 years ago anyway because he wasn't completely innocent either.

i always felt there was more to wei yan and was never entirely convinced he was as evil as xie zheng thought. i found his character so fascinating and eagerly anticipated unraveling this enigma. i wish the drama had taken the time to peel back the many layers of his character throughout the forty episodes instead of squeezing his backstory into the last two to three episodes. i mean fr, when they brought up his love story, it felt like it just came out of nowhere. lol. and his final revelation became so convoluted.

in a similar role albeit less annoying. that's why i thought she was ganna play the same kind of character here again :))

when i saw Xue Er Kong in the cast, i thought she would be trying to steal another ML. i'm glad to watch her play a diff role. lol.

shou hua’s so-called husband doesn’t deserve her :( the only thing i like about him is his mother.

i really don't like how easily they brushed off wanwan getting gaslighted by her ex-bestie and that so-called campus queen.

i was really nervous after how episode 30 ended. i thought they were going to bring in more drama / conflict with just four episodes left. i was pleasantly surprised with the finale. it's a bit sombre and bittersweet (not for the couple), but it might just be one of my favourite finales.

just finished rewatching this after so many years, and i still like it as much as i did the first time :) i've forgotten how delightfully mischievous jingjing is! it's also one of the few dramas wherein i enjoyed watching the couple even more after they got together.

i'm also here after googling for dramas without breakups. lol.

this is what i was thinking. like they're stuck in that loop. i get that he was stuck in the book world and could watch her through the pager for a few days. what was confusing was how he went from watching her in the pager to being in 2025, watching his and the girl's last moments together.
