LOL, apparently one does not need any acting skills or passion for acting to become an actor, kdrama logic if…
Yes this is true to real life. There have been a fair amount of stories of casting directors "street casting" idols and actors based on their visuals! They usually then get invited to audition to get in and train for a bit...
Although these days instead of street casting, which was more common in the 90s and 2000s, social media scouting is also common these days (where they will scout you via DM)
Kim Yoojung as Ahjin is absolutely bone chilling (the scene where she calls 119 at the end of ep3???) . I haven't been gripped by a currently airing drama like this since SKY Castle.
Worth the wait so far, seconding the commenter below me and hoping they don't redeem BAJ lol (haven't had a chance to read the webtoon yet and I probably won't until this is done airing)
Sorry to be mean, but I agree. Woo-jung's actress sucks. Idk why people kept calling her the FL, it's clearly…
Myungjoon is a piece of work in his own right but he was speaking straight facts when he called the bio dad out. The way Woojung and her mom completely glaze over that fact that the bio dad is a selfish pos really pmo so I'm riding with Hwakyung to the end 🤷🏾♀️ I also want to see Woojung suffer as you can see I am reacting very strongly to how self-righteous she is....
Its funny for all the complaints this drama gets, Oh Seungah made out like a bandit iirc this was her breakout role she won an award for Hwakyung. The gap in charisma between her and Seo Haewon is so jarring! Like if Woojung was the lead this show would be unwatchable lol
Decided to circle back around to this because Dear X & A Graceful Liar got me appreciating female villain leads. Not only that but this has the same writer as AGL and Game of Witches. AGL is good so far and GoW is probably my favorite daily of all time. So I got curious...
Thoughts so far:
The way Woojung and her mom go about reuniting Hwakyung with her bio dad... I'd turn against them too. Like let's not act like he gave her up for noble reasons - he was an alcoholic who abandoned her. Why would she want to meet him after 20 years? You're going to broadcast your "best friend's" trauma so your mom can get views? it's wild because at NO point did they even ask Hwakyuung to be a part of this. Woojung TOLD her. My thing is ... how can Woojung act like she's a good person when she didn't even ask Hwakyung how she felt about any of this? Just guilt trips and manipulation because Woojung is projecting her want for a father onto Hwakyung. I know it sounds crazy but orphaned children have the right to not want to meet their bio parents lol. Myungjoon was 10,000% right when he called out the bio dad for being selfish. This may be controversial but I'm glad it didn't work out for Joowon and Woojung and their broadcast flopped. Hwakyung's bio dad also got what he deserved!
I'm also glad Hwakyung is the main character because sorry to the actress playing Woojung but she has no presence (her namuwiki entry says it all 💀) this is probably why this was her last role... 7 years ago... whereas I've seen other cast members in more recent roles. Oh Seungah is always great as a villain.... And I'll always love the evil fake daughter trope.
The MLs family and Woocheol (so pretty mucuh 95% of the gag scenes) annoy me and actually take me out the drama at times (because the story is pretty intense) so I fast forward through all their scenes.
It's also funny seeing No Jeonmin and Oh Seungah playing cat and mouse with each other after seeing them in The Third Marriage lol
The ratings tanked so bad because of all the cancellations and delays! It sucks cuz I genuinely like this drama.…
Just checked namuwiki and this drama won't end until March 6th... which means by the time the winter olympics happen, we'll most likely be in the climax of the drama. the cancellations are really going to hurt the rating of the drama then 😔
This might be a cultural differences thing but per Namuwiki, Jeongwon is the same age as me (1994). Not sure what…
The DNA tests have been BROUGHT OUT!!! Let's go! Jeongwon's revenge incarnate era starts NOW!!
Youngchae and Anna are going to be a fun partnership, I can feel it. Manager Gu backstabbing Nansuk was something I didn't see coming but he's cooked lmao. She figured him out pretty quickly 😭
I liked Jeongwon's wedding dress as well! Tomorrow's episode looks promising 👀
This might be a cultural differences thing but per Namuwiki, Jeongwon is the same age as me (1994). Not sure what Kibeom is smoking but 30/31 is definitely old enough for a child to ask about their mother and receive an honest answer. Grow up and be honest with your daughter... It is totally fair for a child to be curious about their (absent) biological parent(s). They deserve to know the truth...
What's even more mind boggling to me is that Jeongwon was completely calm in that scene. It's not like she was hysterical or hurt or anything. She was all business... which is why I love her as a FL lmao
Came across this drama, read the plot, thought "I wonder if Tia seen this, it sounds like something she would…
I got about 85% through episode 1... I like Dahae. (Doesn't help that Soo-ae is gorgeous lol)
My stomach did drop when I saw what Dahae went through with her father and step father but I am welcoming her and her ambition with open arms. 👀I'm excited to see how she ends up becoming the First Lady.
The way the drama opened hooked me ... (with the gunshot) I'll look into Artificial City
It's also nice seeing Lee Ilhwa here lol that's mother
what a way to end an episode!!! I was not expecting the reveal to go like that. Either way, looks like EVERYTHING is happening next episode (hopefully there's no more cancellations? 😭) Youngchae linking up with Anna is going to be interesting. Anna folded very quickly when Jeongwon as Youngchae called her out. Maybe learning the truth will empower her a bit...
Just like I predicted in my last comment, Nansuk vs Kibeom was my personal highlight of the episode. Nansuk gathered the hell out of him and left no crumbs. Am also glad that he did not die by getting hit by a KIA... I was so glad when jeongwon pulled him back lol. I still think he's going to do get killed though... Maybe by episode 40. Speaking of which, I think the most annoying thing about this subplot of Kibeom trying to stop Jeongwon is the insistence that someone put her up to it lol it's like Nansuk said, "you don't know your daughter"
Came across this drama, read the plot, thought "I wonder if Tia seen this, it sounds like something she would like". I scroll down and ... hello!! How are you liking this one 👀
Do you think Jung-Won is gonna snap and kill someone at some point? I have no idea why I'm hooked onto this theory,…
Oh I like Hyera! I just meant that she is calculative, almost reminds me of Yukyeong from Game of Witches in a way but part of her calculativeness is that she has to hide her true motives but that's also because she can't show them - because Taeseok is out for the same thing and is her rival.
I've never actually seen Lee Ilhwa in a villain role so this would be my first time...
Taeseok is calculated too but his two faceness is way more jarring to me lol. I just find them interesting foils to Nansuk
I gotta say, I love how the situation is flipped here. The FL/protagonist is villainous and greedy while the 2nd…
Yang Dalhee is one of my favorite kdrama villains and a major reason why I binge watched that show lol! If what you're saying is true this will easily become my new favorite daily
I also think youngchae is going to redeem herself as well but it won't be extreme ... like she won't turn into saint youngchae 😭
I gotta say, I love how the situation is flipped here. The FL/protagonist is villainous and greedy while the 2nd…
This show is complex and whatever daily follows it up will have BIG shoes to fill. I watch on kocowa so the broadcasting companies can see my views... I am making an effort to watch every episode as it airs so someone can see that yes, there is someone out there who appreciates dramas like this lol
But as for the story... Once it became clear to me that Jeongwon was NOT our typical FL, I knew they were going to subvert the FL and 3FL's roles. It especially became clear to me once youngchae was proven not to be the killer of the model ex... If youngchae doesn't die, I fully expect her to come back and get her revenge against Team Jeongwon at the end.
I feel like we're going up a rollercoaster and as soon as Jeongwon gets married to Sehun, that rollercoaster is going to GO
Do you think Jung-Won is gonna snap and kill someone at some point? I have no idea why I'm hooked onto this theory,…
Yes... eventually. Maybe someone who knows her secret (it would be amazing if it was the waste of space ex lol everyone seems to want him to be killed off anyway) but besides the aforementioned ex right now I'm not sure who. I think that character/scenario will pop up whenever she starts working at Kunhyang
I went from disliking Kibeom (the whole marriage subplot and how he basically strung Mihyang along at the beginning pmo) to not caring about him to disliking him again. I like Mihyang a little better because she wasn't willing to fumble the bag when she found out what Jeongwon was doing. I will say when Kibeom dies I hope it's not because he is wandering in traffic and getting hit with ye olde truck of doom. I want him to be murdered because that'd be way more interesting to watch quite frankly (especially if it's linked back to Hyera and the Jins?? omg)
I am rooting for Nansuk and I hope she is able to steal Kunhyang at some point. Yeah she's a villain but she's way more authentic than Hyera and her husband. Especially the husband he's so fake it's exhausting to watch his two faces lol
When / how did you learn that Ha Neul was adopted? I thought that his dad brought him in fron first marriage but…
You're right he's a step kid
Youngchae refers to Haneul as Oppa so he's older than her - correct.
It's possible that Nansuk did something to his mom (and I wouldn't put it past her knowing her character) but it's also very likely that his mom died of natural causes or unrelated to Nansuk. She hasn't been brought up, Haneul himself is more occupied with his father...
They probably changed Youngchae's last name because these are rich people and probably wanted to avoid causing a scandal or gossip. If Youngchae's last name is Joo, it looks like to outsiders that Haneul and Youngchae are related. That's just my theory though
I also think Nansuk "killed" (because who really knows at this point lol) Youngchae's dad when she was young since she doesn't remember him...
This show is so complicated you need to take notes to keep up with it lol
Don't really have much to say today because it felt like i already saw most of the episode yesterday. I am not a fan of the non linear storytelling... the episode jumps all over the place. I hope the recaps are just a way to fill airtime and they phase them out as the story progresses.
The highlight of this episode was Jeongwon vs Kibeom. If there's any doubt that she is beyond the point of no return...
The preview for tomorrow looks interesting. Nansook is going to shake Kibeom down so bad he's going to walk into traffic... to prove what exactly? This was not how I was expecting him to go out hey, at least Mihyang and Jeongwon's friend from the department store can go open up a fast food restaurant together...
I wonder if Youngchae is actually Nansook's daughter. She doesn't seem to like her much... framing your daughter for a murder is wild but I expect nothing less from this drama lol
Although these days instead of street casting, which was more common in the 90s and 2000s, social media scouting is also common these days (where they will scout you via DM)

Re: outfits. I like how Jeongwon wears red more than the usual daily drama FL. red represents power which is what she's after
