Yes! I thought she was just a comedic relief character but once she internally revealed that she's playing the long game of getting revenge on her brother?! I love to see it π
I still donβt understand why itβs called First Man and the picture/shadow of a manβ¦Any ideas?
This is a part of a "series" of daily dramas by Seo Hyunjoo (the writer) who has also written The Second Husband and The Third Marriage. The title is supposed to mimic that lol
As for who the first man is? I figure it's Seorin and Jangmi's bio dad, but right now it's hard to pinpoint who exactly the first man is lol
Today's episode felt like fodder for the shippers but for me (who's firmly on Team No One) the highlight was ... Hwayoung's steam stunt going awry and Junho being the unintended victim. lol judging by the preview I'm going to guess Jangmi is going to do a complete 180 on marrying Junho causing more unnecessary angst with Baekho lol. Then she will get revenge on Hwayoung by "taking Junho from her" lmfaooo please... can Seorin wake up soon because that sounds painful and completely disproportionate to Hwayoung's crimes.
Like oh... You stole my sister, gave my mother brain damage, and killed my step father? Not to mention Ssangkal? Jangmi really said bet ... let me marry your son π yeah that'll show her π (especially since Junho has a very transactional relationship with Hwayoung. You can't steal something that doesn't belong to someone else lol)
Nambong continues to frustrate the hell out of me like... him taking the moral high ground with Hwayoung is hilarious because he's still living a lie with Youngja and Baekho has an idea but doesn't know the full depth of the affair. And Junho is completely in the dark that his bio mom and step dad are currently getting down. All of that was for nothing tho because nambong is going to "act on his feelings" tomorrow π€£ I just have to laugh because it seems like Youngja is finally going to find out .... it's been long overdue. (No seriously I thought nambong would've gotten exposed ages ago)
Nambong and Hwayoung deserve each other. I don't think I've ever seen a daily where the evil character throws another one under the bus and the latter is STILL in love with the evil character. Nambong redefines "down bad"... That's simplord supreme....
It's not just you- Jang Mi is not doing much for the revenge- she relies heavily on Baek Ho and Tae Pyung and…
Ok ok so it's not just me. The irony is Taepyung has grown on me a lot BECAUSE of his role in the revenge.
This is a problem with Seo Hyunjoo's (the writer) dramas imo I've said elsewhere that she's great at creating revenge worthy scenarios and excellent at throwing a love triangle in but when it comes to the FL executing the revenge that's where things start falling apart... bc she usually ends up relying way too much on the ML / other characters. The third marriage had the same issues and I had dropped it by this point however I like Eunjung and Junho's storyline with Hwayoung as well as Taepyung evolving into a revenge incarnate. So I'm invested lol
Hongju and Scamwol are pretty much the comedic relief characters atp just like everyone else in Jangmi's family sans Taepyung are used as bomdama ambassadors lol. With 38 episodes left they could become actual villains but I'm not holding my breath lol
I wonder if Baekho's adoption will be relevant to the plot. Junho is Hwayoung's son and I think her secretary is Junho's dad... so I wonder if Baekho's parents are going to show up... or if we already met them lol
Yup Dracula is so jun hoβs dad β¦ poor bastard π β¦. Watching her get the snot kicked out of her in jail…
I still have to watch episode 81 & 82 but I don't believe for a second she's actually going to cut them a deal and I hope at the end she gets sent back and gets jumped again for lying π
Oh hell no @ Songah using the "you were warmest when Dad was alive" card to her mom because jeongok committed…
....and hyuna walked in on sena and gunwoo. I knew she was going to be the first casualty in the drama but I thought she would last a little longer than episode 5 π
I hope this forces Songah's character development because Hyuna is actually the only character I like rn alongside Jeongok and Kangmin
Oh hell no @ Songah using the "you were warmest when Dad was alive" card to her mom because jeongok committed the crime of... Not ignoring the red flag of a man completely ghosting a parents meeting? If it were a true emergency (and we know it wasn't) he could've easily called Songah and at least tell her something came up.
Gunwoo makes Songah stupid! I'll probably like her better once she wakes up and realizes Gunwoo is in love with Sena ....
And why is Songah acting like she didn't benefit from Jeongok ranking high in the company lol kick her ungrateful ass out "you didn't have to do this (rise in the ranks of JH)" like okay then have fun living in poverty in hypercapitalistic South Korea because you're chasing a guy who's cheating on you π
It's also very obvious that Gunwoo is only choosing Songah because of her family's money and status...
Seems like Songah's mom has the right idea about Gunwoo but she's hiding behind class differences as an excuse lol I have a feeling she knows more about him (his relationship with sena?) than she lets on
The class differences excuse doesn't seem to hit because it seems like he's rich and so is Songah's family ... I'm probably missing something
Seems like the ML (Kangmo) is one of those MLs that can't take shit seriously until he meets the FL and magically matures. He's gonna annoy me until we get to that point lol. I'm so glad this trope seems to have died out with dailies of the 2020s... I dislike immature male leads with the same amount of intensity that other people have for immature female leads. Like putting your feet up on the table during a business meeting? Grow up.
I don't really like Rabong's mom/Sena's aunt either but I have a feeling she's meant to be unlikeable lol
Songah's going to wish she took her mom's advice and didn't apply for an entry level position when Laura Kang starts dumping work on her lol. She's giving Kang "I'm taking everything" Seri from Queens House... villain potential...
*blows dust off the comment section*When geum bora is playing the chaebol MIL you know you're in for a ride....ETA:…
unrelated but also somewhat related rant? I stg kocowa needs to start uploading more old dramas to their streaming service instead of pushing all this idol content. it's damn near impossible to find a working site these days. note to self: as soon as you find working link to an old drama you must finish it ASAP
On episode 80 and is it just me or are Baekho and Taepyung doing more for this revenge than Jangmi is...
Crazy how I originally liked "cold city man" Junho and I was ready for his villain era but this whole "I'm going to marry you regardless of your feelings" feels dated af. Ideally I would've let Junho reveal the truth then the three of them team up but nope we gotta go for maximum drama. I am way more into his storyline with Hwayoung than "which brother will Jangmi choose" tbh
Scamwol and Hongju are ineffectual villains. We been knew but shame on me for thinking Hongju would be an actual threat based on the press releases lol. Hwayoung and her secretary (Junho's dad? π I think he is) are the only true villains here. Anyway looking forward to watching scamwol lose her money to this AI crypto scam. I like hwayoung better as a villain just because her evil plan isn't just be a hanger on to some old CEO...
OH and I've seen a lot of dailies and evil characters getting beat up/bullied in prison is nothing new but damn are the ladies in Hwayoung's cell brutal lollll I'd go as far as to say their ring leader is doing more for this revenge than Jangmi is π
Oh and Baekho being adopted as well is something I didn't see coming. I thought he was blood related...
There's many times Yeonja has been harsh to Eunae but telling her to wait until the money is in her account is not... one of those times... guess common sense ain't so common
I love Jung-Won! She was definitely a great FL to me! Nice recap. I loved Jung-Won and Young-Chae's dynamic too,…
I don't think I've seen a kbs2 drama section that dead since.... Snow White's Revenge
Oh yes Lee Shia playing a legit villain would be intense and I would be here for it. I am not fluent in Korean so I'm not exactly sure what's considered good acting but Jeongwon never took me out the show (none of the characters did... Manager Gu is literally a master class on how to write a good gag character)
Ah yeah... Seo Hyunjoo loves her romance. Her dramas frustrate me because she creates these amazing premises for revenge but then bogs it down with love triangle shit since all her FLs usually like to marry for power while the ML watches like a sad puppy (I'm bracing myself for Baekho and Junho fighting over Jangmi π) And the revenge always feels mid AF for what the FL goes through. Second Husband might be different tho because I know it got extended... I should probably dust that off my watch list...
KBS2 better have Lee Dohyun or the woman who wrote Queens House on speed dial. Hell, even the woman who wrote Cinderella Game/Gracious Revenge. We are hungry for good dailies π
I low-key feel like PIR is going to end up switching writers midway through... just a feeling ... and honestly while that's usually a red flag that may be the only thing that makes me return to it LOL I think the writer is in over her head because for a first drama the premise was VERY ambitious... And I think that's what got me π
OMG girl, you're gonna watch a KBS1 daily? Finally! (The only one I saw was Sunny Again Tomorrow. I liked it...)
Okay so I'm not spoiling you then lol I was referring to Seorin
The mom and daughter meaning Sukhee and Jangmi? I used to be annoyed by Taepyung until he leaked Hwayoung's affair THAT I can get behind
Nah this drama is worse than fatal promise... I feel like the families have waaay more people than the families in fatal promise did π
Was YJH considered the ML in penthouse? He felt more like a supporting character in revenge/escape from the seven. I keeping having to tell myself that his character is NOT yang jinmo π
OMG girl, you're gonna watch a KBS1 daily? Finally! (The only one I saw was Sunny Again Tomorrow. I liked it...)
His character is standing on business so far!! I can't believe this his is first lead role
I will say there's A LOT of characters like there's like 4 families this drama follows but I'm sure the more I watch I'll be able to match names to faces (until then I keep the asianwiki page up on my phone while I watch lol)
Oh and there's a lot of familiar faces in this drama as well!
As for the first man idk how far you are so I won't spoil but if a certain character ends up dying I will absolutely drop that drama like it's hot....but besides that I am going to need Sukhee to get more lines of dialogue besides "Jangmi Sukhee ddal! Jangmi yeppeuda" ...it got old around episode 20...
As for who the first man is? I figure it's Seorin and Jangmi's bio dad, but right now it's hard to pinpoint who exactly the first man is lol

She doesn't know the real reason but Gunwoo skipped out on a parents meeting because Sena staged an ER visit? Oh he's DOWN BAD.
