Someone wrote that ML actor here is famous for his psychopath/villain roles. This drama is the first time I saw…
I am a huge fan of the actor and have watched or tried to watch the other works I can find. I'd recommend the Veil and Chief Kim for the contrast, which I think showcases his ability to become his character. I personally don't like romance dramas so I couldn't finish most of them (including dearest). The one I managed to finish is Beautiful Kong Shim. The show is uneven and awkward but it is mostly cute and likeable. If you want to watch him be goofy, I'd recommend one dollar lawyer. It's a bit uneven too, but it's a good mix of humor and has heart.
I just started this. I liked season 1 a lot. The ML was over the top and acts spoiled but it is clear he has a good heart and a soft side, which makes him sympathetic and easy to root for. He doesn't give off the same vibe in this season. Where did the cool confidence to outsiders go? He still did the softer side well though. I like the scene with his brother, it feels like season one.
I think the new FL is fine but the dynamics between the returning team one members seem off. It's more awkward and doesn't have the same charm as the first season. I hope the show improves and finds its groove again soon.
they need to stretch the storyline to fit 16 eps. so the initial friction that took a whole hour of story time…
I agree that it is not unrealistic to resent his dad in the situation. But the ML is too good to be real in so many ways all through the show. So I disagree that the initial behavior is in character for ML. I think that part felt forced because it goes against the ML's defining characteristics and it dragged on. He suddenly changed his mind without any evidence otherwise anyway, so it's a waste of an hour in terms of narrative flow.
I just binged this in one sitting. It's so much fun and the end of the story was surprisingly touching. The last part of the show is a teaser for a next adventure. I'd be happy to watch a 2nd season if they make one :)
I took a break and am just now watching the last case.. The ML's behavior towards his dad just made me lose all good will I have towards the show. How can the ML just believe the worst without even trying to investigate? I liked the show because of its warmth and a lot of that comes from the ML's endearing kindness. But the last case made me think of him as a hypocrite who treats strangers better than family. I will still finish since I'm so closed to the end. But the show is kind of ruined for me
I finished binge watching this show. The first 6-7 episodes are really gripping. I can't wait to find out what's next. The last few are a bit of a letdown by comparison. The finale in particular really pushed suspense of disbelief too far (for me). It's still overall very entertaining and the cast all did a fantastic job. I'd watch a 2nd season if there is one :)
I just started this drama. The first episode feels really uneven. The ML did a great job playing his stoic no-nonsense…
Ok. I just binged the first four episodes. There aren't enough funny parts for the show to be a comedy but what's there is great and the bright spots of the show!
I think I would describe this show as over-the-top action. The action looks cool in a stylized way, but it requires suspense of disbelief. The story is kind of "iffy" and does not qualify as a thriller (to me), but it's fast paced and the cast makes the show very enjoyable as long as I don't think too hard :) I think I will finish binge watching this tomorrow
I just started this drama. The first episode feels really uneven. The ML did a great job playing his stoic no-nonsense character. His interactions with his current and ex co-workers are so funny. The other two former agents are hilarious too, and the chemistry between the 3 is wonderful.
The daughter's storyline at school seems unoriginal and lacking in comparison. I was tempted to fast forward, but I am worried I won't be able to follow the plot.
Does the show stay uneven like this where the comedy outshines the darker/more serious parts? Just wondering if I need to adjust my expectations and watch this as a comedy instead of a thriller.
I have this on my watch list and just realized it's a lost tomb show. Does the story ends with a cliffhanger? Lost tomb shows have a tendency to not have a real ending, which I really don’t like, so I'm a bit hesitant to start
I typically like to accumulate episodes before starting but I really want to watch this. I am a huge fan of Namkoong Min (since Good Manager) and my preferred genre is mystery/thrillers. I have re-signed up for Hulu/Disney+ on July 4th just for this show. I am in the US and Hulu only has episodes 1 and 2 right now. Should I wait?
I signed up for disney/hulu again thinking I'll get to watch this for my July 4th weekend. But no. Only trailer is up. It won't start till July 9th. I'm annoyed :(
My favorite genre is costume mystery with no/little romance. This was recommended to me after I finished Zhan Zhao adventures on that board. I just started and I really like the FL. She is smart and cool. I do not like the ML at all - top close-minded and self-absorbed. I'm guessing he'll learn soon. It's a really promising start
Any news on which service bought US rights yet? I only have Netflix now and got a promo offer from Hulu to rejoin. Just wondering if I should sign up for Hulu/Disney since I will gladly pay them if they let me watch this show as it's released
Good to know ripe town is good. It is on my watch list but I haven't found motivation to seriously start. Longest day in Chang'An is on my watch list too though I'm only so-so on political intrigue. I think i will probably start eith Kill my sins, then Ripe town or Vendetta of An. I've seen Towards the truth, League of gentlemen, Judge Dee and Wanted detective already.
