On Island Part 2 May 10, 2025
I wished they'd just end it and not try to set up another possible sequel. They could have used the last few minutes to do a proper epilogue. The plot has pacing issues and a lot did not quite make sense. Kim Nam Gil as Van is the only reason why I keep watching. I don't think there will be another season; but even if there is, I have zero interest in watching.

On The Fiery Priest Season 2 May 4, 2025
They totally changed ML's character. The humor is way over the top this season and so much of it is cringey. The last two episodes are really bad. Still, I love Kim Nam Gil. When he's acting like normal person or doing action, it reminds me of the first season and is enough to keep me watching. I started fast forwarding scene he isn't in after a couple of episodes, and it became a lot more enjoyable.

Watching this since I want to see Kim Nam Gil in a serious action role.. The FL here is a bit cringey and the story is a bit disjointed, but it is much easier to bear than continue Fiery priest S2 where the writers totally assassin's his character...

Will Disney plus have this for the US? I have Netflux and Viki, but I will sign up for Disney too for a few months just for this.

Just finished. It started well but it slowed a lot towards the end. It could be a few episodes shorter. The ending doesn’t help. The plot of the last arc is just too hard to believe. It kind of ruined the show for me.

I love doctor prisoner. The back and forth and mind games are very well done and engaging. And unlike many dramas, it’s even stronger in the 2nd half.

Title The Veil
Which one should i choose 1st betn these two drama one dollar lawyer or the veil.
Depends on whether you want something a little lighter and fun or more intense and dark. These two are extremely different shows. Dollar lawyer is the easier watch. I can just turn it on and vegetate and laugh at the silliness (except for 2 of the episodes). Veil is super intense and requires attention. I think both suffers from needing to wrap up too quickly and requires a willingness to suspend disbelief. But because Veil requires a certain amount of brain to follow, the issues are a bit more pronounced. Both are good though. And Han Ji Hyuk is probably my favorite character that Namkoong Min has played- he is awesome and scary but from time to time, he'd look so vulnerable I want to hug him

Title My Dearest
I recently became a huge fan of Namkoong Min and am going through his dramas. I don't like romance dramas but I am giving this a try based on all the positive reviews. His first scene was so good. It makes me want to watch more. Then comes the FL's first scene. She is exactly the kind of character I can't stand. I am sure she will grow and develop as the drama progress. But I am so turned off by her narcissism that I just needed to stop. I am only 16 minutes into episode 1. I really want to see more of the ML, especially the story leading up to his totally awesome opening scene. But I don't think I can handle watching the FL, at least not until she has more character development. From the reviews, it sounds like the leads spend a lot of time not being together. If I am interested in the intrigue/politics, can I fast-forward the FL's scenes and the romance parts and still follow the plot? Or will I be lost?

Wow, on ep 5. How can the FL thinks it's ok to assault the ML in public as a police officer? I mean, yes, the whole show is ridiculous at times, but it is funny ridiculous. There is nothing funny about punching people without cause or consequences because you are angry. Will I be lost if I just skip her scenes? I don't want to drop the show but i really cannot stand the FL anymore.

Wow, the FL went from cool to annoying in less than 1 episode. The ML is right. She is not qualified to be a cop. I am on 4 and I am to the point where I almost can't stand her. I hope she improves and stop acting like a spoiled violent child soon. I might have to drop even though I like everyone else in the cast.

Finally finished after taking a break from it for a bit. The second half is a lot quicker pace and more engaging than the first half. There are still a lot of things that doesn’t make sense (that happened for the convenience of the plot), but the story move fast enough that I don't have time to think too much and be annoyed. It helped that I like Rain, and the husband character really grew on me in the second half. I'm surprised at how much I sympathesized with him.

I complained in my first comment about the FL. Now that I've finished, I think it's mostly the writers fault. The romance and chemistry is so uneven through the show. The story has the FL flip-flopping between stoic and too dramatic/sweet. And in some of the later episodes, the story had Rain, who has devotion shining from the way he looks at FL most of the time, occasionally forget the romance and act like a detective discussing a case with a partner.

Overall I enjoyed the show and gave it an 8 on the strength of the second half. But I can see grading it lower if one is looking for a more logical story or a more evenly developed romance.

Re-watching now it's on Netflix. I remember liking the show a lot a long time ago. I am only on episode 2 and I must say I don’t like the FL so much anymore. But I think the story and ML held up surprisingly well. The random missing episode 4 is annoying though.

Just finished. It is an entertaining fast-paced watch. But the ending is a little anticlimactic. I think it would have been better if they took a bit more time on the main story and ended on its resolution instead of spending the last 1.5 episodes with a time skip and an unrelated mystery.

On Meet Yourself Feb 22, 2025
Just finished. I was enjoying it even though nothing much really happens because of the meaningful conversations and fun characters until the last couple of episodes. I thought they deliberately created problems for the FL and ML to drag it out and keep them in the story. Part of why I like the show was because I thought the characters were realistic despite being quirky. But the whole "you should have told me everything including business secrets because we are dating" totally broke that positive impression. The only consequential development in 38-40 is the resolution of two of the side characters' story. I think it would have been better if those resolutions were moved earlier and the show is shortened.

On See Her Again Feb 13, 2025
Show is engaging though very predictable. It is short and fast paced so it is a fun watch. If you are looking for a thought provoking mystery, this is not it. But if you like mysteries with a logical progression that just goes down one central story without distraction, this show does it very well. I think they do too much foreshadowing and flashback which makes the mystery too predictable, but everything makes sense (despite the time travel premise) and there isn't much draggy melodrama. I'd say it's between an 8/9 for me.

I was annoyed when Netflix took away Awaken, but now they have Doctor Prisoner. I already binged it on Viki but this is an excuse for a re-watch :P.

Aw man, i really don't like it when they add romance to a perfectly good crime, action drama. I wanted more of…
Same here. I'm on episode 10 and losing interest. I do not want to watch the FL pining and the random flashbacks. It serves no purpose other than slowing the pace and kills the momentum. I'm debating to drop or stick it out. It's just 2 more episodes. On that note, does S1 end with resolution of ML back story? Or do I need to commit to S2 as well for the ending? I have no intention of watching S2 so I might as well drop now instead of waste 2 more hours for a non-ending.

Can anyone share their thoughts on Namkoong Min? I haven't had the chance to watch any of his dramas yet, but…
I think the biggest contrast are the Veil and Good manager. His characters in those are such polar opposites. Veil showcase his intensity/emotional depth and Good manager his comedic talent.

Then again, I think he's great in pretty much all his shows and he has great taste in choosing projects. So I don't think you can go wrong with anything he's in after 2017

Just finished binging this over 3 days. It is so good! I must say that I I prefer the mind games between Na Yi Ji and Lee Jae Joon towards the end than with Chief Seon in the beginning. I think those two are much more strategic than Chief Seon and are better matched intectually as opponents. I never got the sense that the Chief can outsmart Na Yi Ji, so the back and forth in the first half felt a little long. But once the chief is removed as main opponent and more a lower level player looking out for himself, it flows much better and is edge-of-seat engaging.
