I dont understand the love this show is getting. Frankly, I'm extremely disappointed. Gene is a terrible character,…
It's appeal eludes me, too. It took 9 episodes to come up with one really good scene. Even then, there were plot holes you could drive a truck through. I'd only watched this weeks episode because I'd heard that the coming out dinner scene was done well, and I do agree with that. 1 scene, does not make this a good series, though, and I don't watch shows I dislike for their narratives, or lack thereof, just because the actors are attractive.
The characters turn on a dime turn to fulfill the aims of the plot for that episode and they have little internal consistency. In fact, the whole series does that: it's a parody, then a farce, then a drama, then a soap: it's all over the place trying to be everything and, IMO, not doing anything particularly well. While there was the one really great scene, the rest of the episode reminded of exactly why I dropped the show, in the first place.
I'm not a fan of this show, but I decided to watch the episode based on some of the things I heard about it. IMO, that was one of the best coming out scenes I've seen in a BL show, other than when it was a non-issue. (I'm specifically referring to the supper table scene and the scene of Gene and his family in the darkened living room.) If only the rest of the series had been presented with that level of quality, I would have liked it a lot more...
I'm 53, but I came out to my family when I was 16, in 1983. I was still living at home and I could relate to Gene and Nubsib's apprehension. I had gone to social services beforehand to see if I could could get assistance from them in case my family threw me out, but that didn't happen. My father wasn't happy about it and he and I had confrontations not wholly unlike Gene and his dad. The rest of my family was accepting and supportive.
What's interesting about Thailand, in 2021, is that the culture at large seems fairly accepting yet gaining acceptance from one's family can still be very difficult. My heart goes out to all who have yet to have these discussions with your families, wherever you are: it's no easy matter. You'll do it if/when the time is right for you. Believe me when I say, though, that you will draw enormous strength later from being your authentic self.
If you think this show is romanticising rape, stalking and perpetuating the idea that men can’t be sexually…
People are free to make whatever comments about the show that they want to: either positive or negative.
QUOTE from Yian Ji: "The only thing you are doing, is making yourself feel better and giving yourself the false feeling of being morally better than anyone who enjoys this show."
What is your basis for this claim, other than presumption?
Gosh what am I even watching...rape to lovers? What's with all these overused tropes? Like the 0 and 1 referring…
Hello Sneha3214! Nice to 'see' you again! Knowing your thoughts on other shows, I feel safe in saying to you that you should drop this one as fast as you can. I only come in here to see the reactions of some people I know and comment when it feels appropriate.
Who else thinks that Mork isn't interested in Mueang Nan other than as a friend and spends as much time with Mueang Nan as he does because it allows him to also see Pi?
The rating for this series is still way too high. It has nothing going for it other than pretty faces. It is completely…
I don't find it appealing, either. It's well directed and shot for what it is, but it's not my cup of tea. I dislike Adam Sandler style humour, intensely...
I don't get the negative comments? This series is just a simple, humorous and light BL. Nothing more and nothing…
It's actually a rare instance where a BL can be light and comedic without driving me crazy. I 'get' this approach to humour much more than the slapstick, OTT, approaches taken in Thai RomComs, in contrast..
In regards to the est cola scene... how is Pi sitting outside by himself in the scorching hot sun after having…
There's no realism to that scene, at all. Someone who had just passed out from heatstroke should not be sitting outside, like that, afterwards. A med student would also know that pop would be a terrible drink to offer. Regular water or an electrolyte replenishing drink would be much better.
That was the worst episode so far, and was bad by general BL standards. Li Cheng veered from very creepy to wise…
Quote: "We had both of them proclaim they're not gay, they just like one guy, which is the worst BL cliche and I thought we were moving past that."
That's no surprise to me, at all. I've said all along that this series reads like an 80s YAOI manga, with its trope parade. Reading the comments, from time to time, has only confirmed my assessment. HIStory3 was watchable but I didn't even try any of the others because they sounded like they were, in one way or another, cut from the same 'classic' YAOI manga cloth.
Wow, that co-worker! Women hating on women... :/Glad Mu Ren pointed it out and put her in her place. Rewatching…
I'm not surprised. Having worked in a female dominated field most of my life, a great deal of women hating on women goes on in the workplace, which tends to be protracted because of its typically passive-aggressive expression. Most women I know, including my mother, both of my sisters, and my two nieces cite having the greatest difficulties working with other women.
Finished on Monday and I'm still here, well listening to the OST and rememoring some scene. I applaud the staff…
If you enjoy taking musical trips down memory lane, @Vent Pire compiled a Spotify list of the music from the series. If you go up and open the Recent Discussions box, I put the link to it in there. If you use it, please leave a like on her page. I know she appreciates it. =)
I really want to get into more MaxTul content but I’m not sure where to begin. I know they were in like bad…
As far as the timeline of their shows:
-Together With Me (made after Bad Romance but it's set before the story in BR) -Bad Romance -Together With Me, The Next Chapter
I wasn't fond of Bad Romance and feel it can be skipped, if you read a brief synopsis for it, after watching TWM. If you want the 'complete' experience of it, though, that's the order I'd suggest you watch them in.
