As great as what I expected

Another great drama from WOWOW. Very interesting topic about Japan-US relation but above all that, this drama tells a story about strong women. Love everything about this drama. Nice character development, pacing, cinematography and color grading... I really love all about this drama! Got hooked from the 1st episode.

Just wanted to remind that some scenes could be triggering for those who's sensitive about sexual assault or PTSD- kind of thing so yeah please watch it with caution of that.

Short, simple and meaningful love (and life) story!

At first I was confused with the ending but when I think about it one more time, this drama conveys such a great message. This is a story about 2 people who always repeat the same day over and over again. At the end of the story one of them (ban-san) is still repeating the same day while the other, our female lead (yuki) seems to break the cycle and finally can move on to "tomorrow".

From what I perceive, the message they're trying to convey is that, if you give up on tomorrow, you'll just be the same person as you were yesterday. But if you don't give up, keep trying and hoping, the better days will come to you. This is what makes yuki and ban-san different. She didn't give up, while he gave up.

Truly such a beautiful story told in a short movie...it seems like a simple message but the overall acting from the cast make it even more better.. Recommended for someone who likes romance stories.

Could be painful to watch for some

This movie contains disturbing scenes, as in term of violence, murder, sexual activity. Not that much of gore, but for someone like me who despise gore films, I had to fast forward some scenes... but anyway, the story is brutally touching, making people wonder the true meaning of life...
The cast did a great job, Sato Jiro delivers as usual, and I'm kinda amazed with Ito Aoi's acting. This is the 2nd time I watch her movie, and I thought she has the potential to be a big star. Shimizu Hiroya's acting is good enough to give you chills. Overall this movie is good, but doesn't have a high rewatch value I think.

Also, the last scene is such a tearjerker....the amount of sadness in that scene is just too painful.
[SPOILER] I still can't understand the meaning behind the invisible ping pong...is it to symbolize that they will no longer play ping pong together again in the future? or maybe that's some kind of illusion that they are playing ping pong together? Idk..but the last scene certainly left a big impression...

Splendid!

When I heard about this drama last year, I had no interest at all to watch it. Although the casts looked promising (well, I was really excited to watch the reunion of father and son in Unubore Deka (2010), Nagase Tomoya and Toshiyuki Nishida!), but the plot seemed too ordinary for me. In fact, I tried to watch 1 episode last year and didn't continue to watch the rest. What brought me to finally watch this drama is because everyone's on my community recommends it. I got curious and well, because I had nothing to watch, I decided to give this drama a 2nd chance. Turns out, it really gets better and better.

The pacing is not too rushed, it flows smoothly it makes you feel like you're really watching someone's family's story. The main character is indeed very unusual, a professional wrestler with a noh-related family in his background. Some people might call it weird, but I have to say that it's weird in a nice way. The characters development is written very carefully and acted very brilliantly especially by Nagase Tomoya and Toshiyuki Nishida. For the first few episodes, I had to skip the scenes when they acted noh or when Juichi is shown wrestling because I have no interest in both of them. But towards the end of the drama, I watched the whole noh scenes and began to appreciate it more.

The heartwarming contents and comedy/ joke lines is well mixed. As expected from Kudo Kankuro. The ending though, is REALLY unexpected. But I would not give this drama a 9/10 rating if it wasn't for the ending. A very nice surprise, I think this is why everyone's talking about this drama last year. Overall, I'm glad I decided to try to watch this drama again after a year... I would absolutely recommend this drama to everyone looking for a nice and heartwarming drama, or if you're feeling alone and missing your family. I'm sure this drama will lighten up your day.

This drama gives me the same warm feeling as when I watch "If Talking Paid" (Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai) starring Ikuta Toma. When I finished watching it, I feel sad because I can't see them (the characters) anymore. Feels like you're being left alone by your closest friends. I miss watching their daily interactions. I hope in 2022 we will get an amazing dorama like this one!!!

A heartwarming story beyond my expectation

It was fun until the first half of the movie where it gets a little bit boring because the story is too dramatized for me, it seems like it's a 10 episodes of drama made into a 2hrs movie. But towards the end, with all the revelations and the acting skills shown by the casts, it made me teary-eyed. At one point, I kinda knew that something was going on with Tanaka Riko's health and the movie didn't really show enough content about it. The reason why she really wanted to take care of Yuko is because she couldn't have a child of her own, and it was only explained briefly towards the end of the movie. After all, the spotlight is not on Riko but it's on Yuko. But I really enjoyed watching it. It's a heartwarming story about family that I would recommend to everyone who likes this type of story.

Ishihara Satomi's motherly expressions are on point. Supported with the other casts with brilliant acting too. Kudos to the production team!!

There's nothing I hate about this drama. I truly enjoyed watching it. The topic is not usual, but it gives me new insights about sexual orientation. Not too extreme, it all comes to me slowly, peacefully, naturally, as if I'm listening to my friend's story. Again and again, for the xx times, I've learned something new while watching dramas. This one is exceptional, I really recommend it to someone who likes to watch slice of life/ heartfelt drama.
Kudos to all the production team and the cast!

Great acting from the casts

I was going to rate 8/10 while watching this movie, but after it reached the end of the story, I changed my mind and give this movie a 9/10. Brilliant acting from the casts. The story was great but the flow wasn't too smooth, sometimes it got too dragging it makes me sleepy during the movie. But overall, it was a nice movie with a nice story plot. Recommended for those who's interested in human-drama type of movies.

Sato Takeru, Abe Hiroshi and Kiyohara Kaya delivers the most in this movie. Eita was great too, but his screen time is not too long. I didn't expect the plot twist at the end! Really enjoyed this movie.

Not any better than the 2008 drama

I watched the 2008 drama first before I watch this movie. Somehow the drama got more popular than the movie. Haven't watch the anime before, so I don't know how close the character is compared to the manga/anime, but I think this story is much more suited to be adapted into a drama, not a movie. The pacing seems too rushed I feel like it failed to convey the story as well as the character's emotions. Moreover, I think the casts are not as great as the drama version..

For Aoi Yuu's or Sakurai Sho's fans, you might want to watch it once, but I think this is not something worth to rewatch. Overall, just like the headline, this is not any better than the 2008 drama..

Great acting from Nagano Mei

This is probably a must-watch for Nagano Mei's fans, because she did brilliantly in this movie. She usually play that pretty, sweet, good-mannered type of character so I'm kinda surprised she could pull off Shiina's character well. I haven't read the manga but people said this movie is very close to the original manga. The story is good, the acting is great, supporting characters also did well....but one thing I should say (or warn, maybe), this movie could make you sleepy. If you're not a fan of slow paced, poetic lines kind of movie, you should probably know about this in advance.... I skipped some 'muted' scenes (no dialogue, just the actors or the scenery) because I was feeling drowsy watching it.

I understand though, maybe the cinematography in this movie was intended to be the exact same as the manga, as much as possible. But in my opinion they should have added some nice, sentimental music in the background maybe? To make it more...idk, dramatic? Because it's not a plain 2D pictures audience is watching, it's a movie adaptation so I guess some more music in the background would be nice! Especially for audiences who haven't read the manga and couldn't grasp the emotion delivered by the main character from the original piece like me.
I gave it 7.5 out of 10 because I personally do not like slow paced-type of movie. But other than that, it was pretty good.

As usual, a brilliant 'The Confidence Man JP' movie!

Been following the confidence man from the first drama in 2018 and it's such a pleasure to be able to watch the movie in the next consecutive years... every movie is charming and it gives off a very nice impression. Not to mention that almost all of the casts (main roles and supporting roles) are top class actors! Everything about this movie is perfect. I can't describe it properly but if you've already watched the previous movies and drama, you'll get just the same amount of joy after watching it.

Side note: if you're not a fan of Higashide Masahiro because of his scandal, trust me, you have to put your feelings aside. I hate him too, but it's such a waste if you don't want to watch the movie just because of him, the movie is too precious! Think about how many people are involved in making the movie, and how all the staffs and casts put their effort into this movie.

Also....I'm touched how the staff still put Takeuchi Yuko's and Miura Haruma's character in this movie...I'm crying 😢

More people need to watch this drama!

This is one of my all-time-favorite Jdramas. Almost everything is perfect in this drama...the cast, the plot, the acting, the ost, the pacing... At first this drama might look like typical medical/ forensic drama, but trust me it gets better after each episode. Ueno Juri did very well portraying Asagao's character. Asagao seemed distant to everyone at first, but in fact she has such a fragile heart. The 4 member-family (Asagao, her father, her husband and her daughter) has a great chemistry. Saburo Tokito, Kazama Shunsuke and the child actress Yuzuna Kato did well too!!!

The sensitive topic (the main characters are struggling to move on from Tohoku's trauma) might be the reason why this drama is not popular in Japan (cmiiw), but watching this will make you realize how important life is, and appreciate the little things that happened in life...

The most deciding factor for my 10/10 rating is probably the OST.
Yuta Orisaka's song "Asagao" fits this drama so well, so well...makes me filled with emotions every time I listen to it. I don't know if it's originally created for the drama or not, but either way, it is a great song :') couldn't think of any other song to replace it. Even to this day if I remember the song I'd remember the drama too :")

Enjoyable

Tokyo MER has been interesting so far. This SP is as intense as the previous series and I love the character development in this SP. It was a very enjoyable 70 minutes, I felt like it was a 45-mins episode lol.

All the cast did a good job, especially Suzuki Ryohei. I think this drama wouldn't be as intense as it is without his acting. Kaku Kento also did a good job portraying the stoic man. Can't wait to watch the movie! It would be nice to see Tokyo MER x Yokohama MER saving lives together 😄

I can't believe this drama only has 7,5 out of 10 :(
It's totally a 10/10 for me. One of my all time favorites. The two main actors are superb, they're really in their character. The story plot itself is already interesting, but I can't think of any other actors to play this role. It's a fun, heartwarming and light drama.

I've talked about this drama with my dad before and he said he can imagine what it's like to be in that kind of situation lol xD
I hope someday we could watch it together.

Overall, it's a fun and interesting drama, I recommend this to everyone!

I wonder why the rating is so low in MDL.... This is one of the best jdramas, one of my all time favorites. This drama actually helped me a lot with studying when I was a student. It gave me new insights about the reason to study, and how to cope with demotivation when studying. The life lessons this drama taught still relevant up to this day. This is an old drama but it's still worth to watch in 2022, especially for students.

Abe Hiroshi is excellent in this drama, as expected from him. It's one of his best works.

Still worth to watch in 2022

Because there's already so many reviews, I just have to say: This movie is still worth to watch now, in 2022. I myself been curious about this movie from sometime ago, but didn't watch it until 2021. Even for someone who doesn't really into j-culture, this is totally enjoyable movie to watch. The plot itself is already intriguing, and the actors-especially Takako Matsu, are all amazing.

You need to watch this movie at least once in your lifetime. Very recommended movie for someone who likes dark/crime/psychology thriller genre.
