That bit with Bua and the upholstered chair near the end of ep. 6 made me gasp and my jaw drop to my chest; not with amusement, but with shock and low-grade horror. That is serious shit, people. That poor kid needs some help and attention fast or I fear the worst for him.
This writer/director is stunningly effective. Many such developments and the ways in which they have been revealed/presented are feature film-worthy.
He, perhaps more than Chian, would benefit from a month in a psych facility followed by ongoing counseling and…
No, I'm not kidding and I'm not mocking the character. The other two, especially Chian (who is edging into serial killer territory), could use some help but neither of them has pissed themselves in an upholstered chair and then sat in it, all because his latest crush was honest with him. Bua's desperate need for constant attention/diversion/distraction is heartbreaking. In that regard, I feel for him the most of all these characters. We're talking suicidal here. Maybe that will be the penultimate shock to this tale.
Lord have mercy. I can think of no other BL that has troubled me so deeply at the same time it has annoyed the hell out of me.
1. Poor Bua needs psychiatric support NOW. I'm not snarking. Any person who experiences the kind of extreme physical response to that late-episode situation we saw near the end is in extreme danger of a breakdown and even suicide.
2. Chian is more of a double-douche than I already knew him to be. Inserting himself into that group/class meeting was a classic Chian the Dick move.
3. Perhaps even more astounding is that the other two didn't simply say "That is none of your business" and close out the meeting. The poor souls don't realize they have very basic options, such as refusing to be ambushed like that. SM culture has taught them they are somehow obligated, trapped in such situations. They're not. I would say the same of Bua, but he is so far gone into SM World there is no hope until after the psych intervention he so badly needs. Again, no snark. The lack of parenting is heartbreaking. There is no loving authority figure in his life to draw boundaries he's not equipped to draw on his own.
4. Faifa is a psycho too. Another commenter here ragged on me last week about Four4Mod being possibly "pan" or whatever. I call BS. He's clearly gay with a tiny sprinkling of straight. She's the classic fag-hag who moves in romantically on a gay friend when he's vulnerable, then acts hurt when the inevitable happens. I've seen this way too many times IRL.
5. When Faifa first spoke in the ep 1, I thought she was trans. Her voice is remarkably low. Did anyone else have that reaction? IS she trans? Is she packing a unit under that skirt? And wtf with her and the band nerds trapping F4M in the restroom? Fuck that shit.
6. F4M needs to grow a pair. Poor guy...despite his outward joviality, I suspect he operates from a deep well of insecurity. Chian's hot/cold act is excruciatingly painful, but it provides drama and a sense of being pursued that is affirming in a twisted way, does it not?
7. Baabin rules above all. I love how he allowed himself to feel things and go with the flow re Bua, while maintaining perspective and self-awareness. Admirable.
8. A leading character I keep forgetting to mention is the interior settings. The attention to detail and planning/design that goes into every bedroom/living space/study room/whatever is astounding. It adds so much to my understanding of the person who lives/works/studies/eats there. Oscar to the sets and set-dressing people.
The creativity in storytelling here is off-the-charts sensational. There have been 500 visual metaphors throughout that are not only effective in signaling important vibes, but simply beautiful to behold. Baabin's double-sock routine took my breath away with its simplicity and depth of feeling. So much conveyed through so little. Gorgeous. Never has so much glorious-ness of acting/direction/production been utilized in the telling of an otherwise marginally worthy tale.
So: Bua and Chian off to the nuthouse, F4M off to the hospital to have a spine inserted, and Baabin off to his desk to begin work on his first philosophy of life and self-help book.
So if you know me, you'll know that I've never been a fan of secondary couples but Buabaa has stolen my heart!!!…
He, perhaps more than Chian, would benefit from a month in a psych facility followed by ongoing counseling and possibly medication too. I say this not as an insult. Anybody who reacts so intensively to that situation that they wet themselves in a chair, is extremely troubled. That's not far from suicidal, in my opinion.
Before starting episode 6, an announcement: I have an intense love-hate relationship with this show. The strongest of a few BLs in that category.
I just skip-watched ep 5 to remind me where things stood, so now I'm all distraught and angsty before the damn thing even starts. This director and his remarkable cast have pulled me in with their uncanny scenes of REAL, youthful pain and heartache. The acting here is on par with most any feature film I've seen.
I care deeply what happens to these idiots even as I roll my eyes at their obsessions with fingernails and social media. But then, fingernails and social media are two of the lead characters here, aren't they?
I suspect my feeling that way is not an unintended effect of watching this drama. :)
Because Thailand is a conservative country ruled by conservative military idiots.
The only intimate scene to this point is the crotch-grab in the photo booth, in which we see nothing beyond hands on the outside of pants. THAT gets an 18+ rating from the Thai government? I guess so. lol
He hasn’t really got a partner. He was having a dig at Chian (as Chian would never give him a status). After…
Thanks for your input. I appreciate your explanation, especially of FM using the word "partner." That's part of the problem with texting though, you can't convey emphasis or subtleties of meaning that we regularly convey through vocal inflection.
As for the second matter, what I didn't see was a HEIGHTENED sense of infatuation from FM toward Chian after the jerkoff, which is what I think would have happened, as having that intense physical experience with him would naturally deepen his feelings. To me, he seemed at the same level as before that happened; which means it was as though it did not happen at all, which didn't ring true to me but whatever.
I agree FM is adorable, all-round, but the fact that he's making those puppy faces at Chian, who I dislike quite immensely, is painful.
Episode 5: Question: When Foumod texted, then left that message for Chian, who was he referring to as his "partner?" with whom he is going to do nails with from now on? And why did he suddenly dump Chian just after Boa gave him the go-ahead? What is wrong with these people? :D
Oh, and don't we need to know how far the sexual thing between Chian and FM went after they started groping in the photo booth? That's pretty relevant to the story and any subsequent feelings/turmoil that would be swirling around, don't you think? I mean, did they do a double Jerk, did they go to Chian's place a go all the way, or did they stop at groping? The way the beginning of 5 played, it was as though the photo booth/end of 4 never happened.
I hate when directors do that. There is a major development at the end of a scene or episode, but next thing we know it's three days later and the outcome is never indicated. Annoying. Thoughts?
This show is under my skin but there are a LOT of things I don't like about it.
They're literal teenagers. That's the whole point. This is the first time they have these kinds of feelings and…
I don't perceive Chian or Boa as being complete newbies at this game, though maybe FM is. Chian definitely comes across as a player. Even when he tries to be honest, he ends up using that as a tactic too. He's still hot for Boa. Boa is a player and seems very aware of what he's doing and why. He plays and manipulates Chian like a pro. Chian then manipulates FM in response, to make himself feel better and what we get is instant hanky-panky in the photo booth. He's not really into FM. I am the farthest thing from a prude, but the way he put FM's hand on his crotch instead of kissing him, which seems like the more romantic first move, you can get to dicks later, really put me off. The lack of an intimate kiss there may be a sign of his lack of romantic feelings for FM. Lots of gay guys want sex without kissing when it's about getting off more than anything else. You know the old "no strings fuck buddy" thing. I bet that's what he'll try to pass of sex with FM if it turns out they went all the way. I'm about to watch ep 5.
I didn't get the double confession anyway. FM already confessed to Chian back in ep 2, so what was the big deal with another one, which seems pathetic.

Charming in a really grainy, grubby way.
8/10

Double jerk-off in a photo booth. What a mess. :)
