Meh...not for me. It seems that, as with almost all Chinese "BLs," this one's going to be heavy on the meaningful glances and silly flirtations accompanied by sound effects, and light on actual, gay romance.
Episode 3: This is unlike anything I've seen before...just marvelous.
I've a feeling this show will divide the audience. A lot of people who totally get it will wonder why a lot of people don't, and vice-versa. I'm one of the former people.
Outstanding.
P.S. Love the sprinklings of magical realism throughout, just little touches.
Nah, it just means we have dramatically different tastes in BLs.I'm curious to know the 12 on my list that you…
Thank you for this interesting/informative read. I appreciate it.
Rather than attempt to change your mind on any of the 12 shows, I think I will simply list what I liked/loved about them and leave it at that. Maybe tomorrow.
I will say right now that if you dropped Love Is a Poison early on, it's probably not worth it to give another chance. It may be one of those that is liked or disliked for reasons difficult to put in words. I rewatched it a few nights ago and didn't like it as much as the first time, though I found the two mains and their vibe charming again. Mostly, it spends WAY too much time on courtroom drama/nonsense that I didn't care about.
I like BLs that keep the relationship front and center. Time travel, Yakuza nonsense, cooking, etc. in BL World are embarrassing af.
Regarding Gelboys, this is one I may end up removing from my list altogether. From the first time I saw it, it left me as queasy about the subject matter as I was impressed by the production values. I find that level of Internet/social media obsession even more annoying than the psycho fingernails culture on display.
Gelboys was written/directed by the writer/director of ITSAY and IPYTM, and it's easy to see that on the screen.
Thanks for giving me a reason to reassess my list. There may be some newer BLs that need to be on it, too.
i dont think it is inmoral, you and other are just judging from the age gap. Not one second you think on Akira,…
"Church Girls" describes a type. Gender, location, age, etc. have nothing to do with it. If you're a moralistic, self-righteous, sex-phobic scold who thinks they live in a black/white universe, you're a Church Girl. 60% of MDL members are Western females
Besides, "Church Person" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Who is "they?"What makes you think "they" are "trying to normalize" that relationship?Their…
From the Merriam Webster dictionary: pedophilia noun pe·do·phil·ia ˌpe-də-ˈfi-lē-ə ˌpē- specifically : a psychiatric disorder in which an adult has sexual fantasies about or engages in sexual acts with a PREPUBESCENT child
prepubescent adjective pre·pu·bes·cent ˌprē-pyü-ˈbe-sᵊnt : of, relating to, being in, or occurring in the period of development immediately PRECEDING PUBERTY
puberty pu·ber·ty ˈpyü-bər-tē : the condition of being or the period of becoming first capable of reproducing sexually that is brought on by the production of sex hormones and the maturing of the reproductive organs (such as the testes and ovaries), development of secondary sex characteristics (such as male facial hair growth and female breast development), and in humans and the higher primates by the first occurrence of menstruation in the female
They're 3 or 4 years apart in age.Akira is a minor, not a child.Grow up.
Grow up.
Tell me, do people magically turn into fully mature adults at the stroke of midnight on their 18th birthday? One second they're a "child," and the next they're completely transformed into an adult?

Dropping in episode 2.
1/10
Mindful of what?
I love that.

Don't make a mess! :D
I think we know who's battling inner demons here, and it ain't me.
I'm curious to know the 12 on my list that you hate...care to share?
A bit about why you hate them would be interesting, too.

I differ in my opinion with one respect: I find their relationship, and the way they were lifelines for each other, quite beautiful.

Pretty sure Akira has all his pubes.
That can only mean you've lost the argument, Church Girl. lol

Is that how it works?
