Episode 4:
...the phone call. Wow, the phone call...

I'm beginning to appreciate, rather than resent, that NF is allowing me such slow access to this wondrous work. Each episode is so full of small mysteries and miracles that, were I binge-watching them, I'd miss most of what's offered. I will watch at least 3 and 4 again before May 5th.

This show is a marvel.

Help, please: Why did the brother do what he did to Dong Man at the end? I don't get where that came from.

It's true; taste and discernment limit one's choices.
Luckily for you, that's not a concern.

I made my points.
I don't feel a need to re-make them for your benefit.

You keep ignoring specific points I've made to support my view, and responding as if I haven't made them. You are stubbornly unwilling to acknowledge the crystal clear evidence that this very Chinese style of telling gay stories is in any way homophobic in nature.

Which is, of course, absurd.

Good enough. Enjoy your watch.

Did you actually read what I wrote?

"...please name a straight romance that takes 8 or 9 episodes to move from trip/fall/catch with sound effects to first, furtive smooch as a cliffhanger..."

In what fictional scenario would a straight romance need to be sublimated because of its very nature as straight? It might need to be concealed for a thousand other reasons, but not because it's straight.

I explained how it's rooted in homophobia:
"The Gay is too nasty to be out in the open among decent folk; it must be sublimated to be acceptable. Delivering the trope amidst pratfalls and nursery school sound effects infantilizes things: The Gay is not only nasty, it's also childish."

Lest I be mistaken for one of the humorless moral scolds on this site, I emphasize that I love humor, pratfalls, and the like; it's the repetitive aspect of this trope in gay storytelling, and the fact that so often, especially in CP "BLs," the relationship never does get to the open affection/kissing/etc. stage. It stays stuck in never-never land.

Oh, come on...please name a straight romance that takes 8 or 9 episodes to move from trip/fall/catch with sound effects to first, furtive smooch as a cliffhanger (I'm going by comments below from others who have watched the whole thing)?

It's the ubiquity of this gay-only trope that betrays its origins in homophobia: The Gay is too nasty to be out in the open among decent folk; it must be sublimated to be acceptable. Delivering the trope amidst pratfalls and nursery school sound effects infantilizes things: The Gay is not only nasty, it's also childish.

You're free to giggle and smirk at the proceedings, but they are what they are.

...because, as we all know, there are no options/gradations between the extremes of subliminal glances or full-out, naked makeout sessions, am I right? Clearly, there are no other options.

Glances and flirtations with silly sound effects are a childish, CP-Puritanical, homophobic version of gay romance, it's true. If that's what you're comfortable with, this show is for you!

I'm deeply hurt that you have granted me mere "potential" pedo status, when "active" pedo status would be so much more complimentary.

BTW...how did you Church Girls have time to post today? Weren't you in Sunday services and Sunday school classes? I hope you didn't skip out just to ream my old potential pedo/groomer ass.

Don't let SATAN!!! lead you astray, Girls.
That's how it started with me - one skipped church service and next thing I knew I was out in the playgrounds hunting four-year-olds.
SATAN!!! is cunning.

blah blah blah, repeat repeat repeat

Church Girl's "right," Etoks21 is "wrong," because Church Girl says so.

Again and again and again, I ask, when does the child-to-adult, full body and brain flip switch kick in, if not on everyone's 18th birthday at midnight?
If not, that means there is no magic date/time, and it doesn't happen in an instant, and it happens for different people at different times, which means that it's a gray area (like the rest of the universe) and depends on the specific people involved in their specific circumstances.

I find your presumption that minors deserve no agency over their own sexual choices, and are all as simple-minded and foolish as you to be as offensive as it is untrue.

In a universe of grays, Church Girls yearn for the simplicity of black/white moralistic BS, so they can make grand, self-righteous proclamations, just as you have done over and over and over here.

"Church Girls" = MDL self-righteous, sex-phobic, moral scolds who presume to pass judgment on all manner of gray area topics that are none of their business. You are the Neo-Puritans, the finger-pointers, the "sex is dirty" panty-sniffers who are trying to take us back to the 1950s. Go live there, but no one else has to go with you.

So I've been told by multiple Church Girls in this thread.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to take my meds for my sickness, read up on my grooming techniques, and get back out there tomorrow to recruit more kids. Wish me luck!

Just like the other Church Girls in this thread, you keep repeating the same BS, as if doing that IN ALL CAPS will eventually make your ignorant, moralistic, childish viewpoint relevant.

Child/adult, child/adult...blah blah blah. So, if the switch doesn't happen at midnight on your 18th birthday, when does it happen, Church Girl?

Stop watching this show. It's beyond your maturity level.

There was zero "grooming" in this show.
It's just another buzz word you don't understand, but like to toss around because doing so fills your need to feel morally superior to others, at least for a few seconds until that old feeling returns...the one that reminds you that you have no idea what you're babbling about.

"alt accounts" lol

Dropping it at episode 2 and giving it a 1/10 is kinda wild 😅 it actually gets so much better later. It might…
That's a big part of why I'm selective when it comes to dramas; so many of them stretch out a 2-hour story over 12 episodes or more.
If in the time I could watch an entire feature film, a drama hasn't hooked me, I consider that an insult to the audience.
I watch a lot more movies than dramas.

That said, there's a drama running on Netflix right now called "We Are All Trying Here." It is excellent.

Doesn't seem "well-made" to me, but that's because you and I have different tastes.
Any show that can't grab my attention within two hours, the average length of a feature film, doesn't deserve my time.
Don't take the 1/10 personally.
I figure any show so bad that I drop it, the equivalent of walking out of a theatre, which I've only done twice in my life, deserves a 1/10.
Looks as though I'm in the minority here (as usual). Just look at the absurdly high MDL rating. My little 1/10 isn't going to make a bit of difference.

Enjoy the show!
