I care because it's gross and weird that, especially in Asia, and especially in Korea, performers feel pressured to hack off and/or rearrange what is already a perfectly fine nose on an attractive face, and turn themselves into an android-looking copy of every other plastic surgery victim/celebrity.

And that phenomenon, especially in Korea, translates to a culture-wide obsession with having plastic surgery. That many of the procedures are explicitly intended to make lovely Asian faces look more "Western," indicates a sad level of internalized, anti-Asian appearance attitudes.

A great many MDL admirers of this series in these comments would beg to differ with you. They think these dudes have a wonderful, fully-aware, healthy relationship, and they wish they had such a love of their own. lol

As I wrote somewhere here, that is a sad indicator of the quality of their own intimate lives, or lack of, and what they think they deserve.

That's one of the simple, casual definitions, sure.

The Cnetz, Knetz, etc. who frequent multiple social media platforms, obsess over celebs, form parasocial relationships with them, discuss them endlessly, criticize and argue over them, and often drive them to suicide, are a whole other breed.

They are on MDL, FB, IG, TikTok, Twitter, WeChat, Telegram, Snapchat, Reddit, Douyin, Kuaishou, Weibo, Quora, Threads, Line, Xiaohongshu, and a zillion other sites, all day, every day.

Those are the Netizens I refer to regarding "fans" and their "armies."

And so did my parents, who promptly did all they could to suppress my differences. Thus, my depression began at that time. Does that please you?

No, I am not closeted. I came out 30 years ago, after decades of struggle and self-hatred. I am divorced and on very good terms with my ex, who has been remarried for 25 years. I am also on very good terms with my very cool grown son and two daughters. All of these people are highly intelligent, non-bigots.
