Can anyone provide any context on the horse hair thing that Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen carry? I've tried looking it up before, but I have trouble finding answers. What are the horse hair things, why are they so big, and what are they used for? I've never seen them actually use it, so I'm pretty curious about it. .

Oof I think we have different taste in dramas lol The only one I also liked is Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. That is one of the few where I actually wanted a second season. I heard in China the second season actually takes place in the present, but because of censorship reasons the story became a mess. I avoided watching it because I didn't want to ruin a good story. I really enjoyed watching the Chinese original though.

In most cases, though, I avoid multi-season shows. Arthdal Chronicles..... Joy of Life.... Douluo Continent... they all test my patience. Luckily I found out Douluo Continent was multi-seasons before I started watching it though. Probably have to wait years before I can finally start the first episode just because of how long C-dramas take to air these days -___-

But I think more Korean shows are releasing post-production so I can see the appeal of multi seasons. It probably felt less risky ten years ago to only release one season when the script could be changed depending on the ratings as the show was still airing. Multi seasons is a way for them to make more money off of IP and also be more careful with investing funds in unfinished stories. I mean I'm just guessing here I don't actually work on these things. But that definitely seemed like the case for Arthdal Chronicles, which didn't even release the first season in one go. The first season was released in three parts. idk I can see the reasons why production companies would prefer multi-seasons... I just hate it.

I love knowing how much I'm investing in a story. 16 episodes? And they all finish in March? That's so much easier than starting a show expecting it to be 16 episodes, getting a cliff hanger, and then having to wait years just to see the rest of the story, which might end up mediocre anyway. I'd rather finish with a lame plot once than wait forever to be disappointed. *flashbacks to Game of Thrones* Idk there's something comforting in starting a show you know will have an end. Whether you like the ending or not, at least you know what you're getting into.

But I mean that's just me. I get why from a business perspective it's better. And I'm sure that multi-season stuff allows producers to take more risks, which has resulted in lots of stories we haven't seen come out of Korea before. idk I'm just rambling at this pointand probably need to sleep. I like knowing when a show will end. I don't like investing my time and effort into a show only to find out I haven't reached my goal on the last episode. alright rant done

Verrrrry curious about the direction of this considering Chai Ji Dan is the director. Has it been confirmed that this will be censored? Because I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same loophole they used for In Your Heart. I haven't read the manhua but I remember it being popular on tumblr some years ago.

These food episodes remind me of dark dining. I've never been a restaurant like this, but it's basically a kind of restaurant where food is served in total darkness. I think the staff is usually blind too. I heard about it as a kid, but I've never been to one before.

I don't remember the exact episode, but it's when the white haired god descends for his trial in the mortal realm. When he is doing his trial, he has brown hair and is an emperor. If you look at the cast credits you'll see Gao Wei Guang is credited as: Emperor Dong Hua / Chen Ye / Song Xuan Ren [Emperor Lord]

Song Xuan Ren is when he is doing his trial in the human realm as an emperor. When I looked up "Song Xuan Ren" on Google, I got this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_Renzong_of_Song

I could be wrong, but I thought maybe it's spelt a bit different just because romanization isn't always consistent. Xuan and Ren are also two different emperors during the Ming Dynasty though, so "Song" "Xuan" and "Ren" might also just be a way to tell viewers "this doesn't take place in any real time." I don't know enough Mandarin or Chinese history to say for sure. You'd have to do more research.
