Appledog is only 3 years older (according to the first two novels), but the casting makes the age gap much greater. I'm not crazy about this change either

Before the show started I had only read Honey Stewed Squid, but found out that the show might incorporate plot from the prequels so I started reading them.
The 2 prequels tell the story of side characters in the Honey Stewed Squid story. They are heavy on gaming and slow in romance (but very sweet in my opinion).

Not sure the credibility of those anonymous rumors. Even if the rumors were true, there's no reason to hate the show. I hope audiences look past them to give the show a real chance. I agree with you that Yang Zi can really act and she's a large part of why I'm watching the show.

Oooh it's subbed now?? I didn't know that, I'll rewatch the fox demon scenes too (from my first watch they were the only ones worth watching honestly)

That's how I interpret it too. Hopefully the show will have a good ending. I've seen the 4 episodes released so far and it's a fun watch.

I don't know if the drama will follow the novel but in the novel the couples break up. Then after a period of time, Ke Huan and Wei Wei run into each other on Valentine's Day. Ke Huan asks Wei Wei if she has someone in her life who would mind if she spent the night, to which she replies she doesn't. He says he doesn't either. https://www.52fuqing.com/newsshow-5991355.html

He even made that one last honest effort to stay the course by offering to show the the boyfriend around so he wouldn't be left alone with her. This show does such a good job building up tension

If you might be able to hold on til Ep 3, it gets better and I think you'll see their chemistry in Ep 3 and 4, but I can see how it's not for everyone. I might be biased because I already liked their chemistry from their previous drama.

She's played by Li Xin Yi. She did a good job playing a complicated character, insecure but wily. Nice to see Hao Mei Li put her smarts to good use.
