I think Zhengyu's chemistry was like his character, more internal and lacking in understanding how to interact and in not knowing how to show the looks that show intimacy to women. Although women find 2021 Zhengyu attractive, he would be at best a one date man. One big problem with 2021 Zhengyu's relationship with Jialan was that he didn't know how to respond. To give the look to show interest and connection, to initiate touching or hugging or trying to hold a hand. Too use his voice to show emotion, care and understanding. I guess the interpretation was that four months wasn't enough to change everything. Their love isn't expressed with eye to eye contact. The looks are towards the camera or at each other.
