Dengdeng, after mourning, is convinced to search to see if Lu Yan is out there. After searching numerous towns and cities she remarks that she hopes that they will meet again in a later life. If they don't, she hopes that he can find his own happiness. That scene ends with her looking ahead and smiling. Cut to a pair of boots walking on the same pavement that Dengdeng was walking on. The legs show Lu Yan walking happily. Hard to see but A Xin's glasses are hooked on the front of his vest. Call out to A Xin's sacrifice. As Dengdeng is smiling, one could consider that their courtship will begin anew. Look for people talking about the actors for Lu Yan and A Xin explaining the above in an interview.

She goes to help out as a nurse in a war up north. Gu Bei Xi goes with her.

I prefer to think of her as an assertive lady. I think that she is a woman that men gravitate towards. You want to be around her. For some, to help or protect her. It's an aura or charisma that she projects. In ep. 2, 24:19, she sits down to eat with Lu Yan and Xin. She allows her servant (she says he is her apprentice) Da Hai to sit with her. Everyone is equal in Qingquan Stronghold. I like that she takes care of those under her.
