Not bad. But He Yan had already worked her way up to being a General. Martial skills and leadership should be second nature, even if she is trying to hide it. And Xiao Jue should have been able to feel that He Rufei just wasn't the He Yan that he grew up with, trained together with and fought together with. He Yan seems to be the girly type that we've often seen before while pretending to be a man.

The writers and characters aren't working at peak efficiency. Zhong was followed yet Beiming, Xumen and Feng, that are supposed to be in hiding are shot in plain view on the second story balcony, because it looks nice, I guess. When the plot demands it Zhuge is neck and neck, but when not, he is out of sight and out of mind. Better than being shown as clueless, he should have figured out Beiming's role in the investigations and stood back letting him Xumen and the others do the heavy lifting.. Perhaps jumping in to steal the credit.The core three are Beiming, Xueman and Dr. Feng, with Huo Dairong left out when she could have been included and Tong Shuang mostly being absent. I guess no sense paying them just to have them standing around.

It's restrained because they are playing the interactions with the other characters. But at the end of the day they will be a couple. Xueman and Zhuge have a vibe together.

Zhuge Kong Yun. The reason why he has the hates towards Xiao Beiming is that he has the hots for Zhong Xueman.
Ep. 8. 6:18 Xueman meets with Kong Yun to gain access to the personnel files. When he queries why she meets him. she says, "Haven't you always wanted to work with me?"
14:41 When Xueman reaches for more scrolls, he has already finished looking at them. But he says, "How is my speed at investigating these dossiers compared to Xiao Beiming back then?"
Then at the end of the episode, he traps Xueman to have to call out the pair doing the autopsy of General Huo. Knowing that Beiming is in that room. Kong Yun hopes that if she exposes Beiming, not only will he be sent to prison, But that Beiming will hate her, giving Kong Yun a chance. But of course we will find out that he is gone.
