I think that it started in ep. 5 with the stand off in the Mansion. 22:32, the pair outside the door got me thinking. I suspect that both pairs recognized kindred spirits, equals in loyalty and ability. And also at 20:32, Song Mo says, "When one's success overshadows his ruler." I think that is in a nutshell the origins of their troubles, with Duke of Ding, with Song Mo and his father and Dou Zhao and her stepmother.

Plus he should be thinking that following her 'instincts' is better than following his own. She didn't know the details, but she knew that danger lurked. But she got blindsided at home, too.

Song Mo dead, Ji Yong has a chance to be closer to Dou Zhao like they were when growing up.

If Zhao was able to stop him, how much would be different? Why did she try to stop him at all? The accusations and the dead would still be waiting for him. He would not have the understanding of his so called father's betrayal. And would not have lead the cleansing mission to the mansion and not be able to lead the funeral possession.

That was one half of the bodyguard ships. Her sister and the surviving brother is the other. Things don't look promising for that pair either. I would guess the sister dies.

True about Ji Yong, but he has already confessed to Dou Zhao. I'm assuming that like DZ, he used his rebirth to strengthen his skills. About caring for the people, from the past life and this, Song Mo has become consumed with the death of Duke Ding, and that had and has diverted any concern for the people. As long as he depends on the chosen 500 from the Ding Army, violence will be part of his solution. In that way Prince Qing, presents a better option for Ji Yong. So for Ji Yong's point of view, Song Mo seems to block any future chance with DZ and his methods tend to cauterize rather than working the system from within. I could be wrong, but things have been changed from the novel, from what I have read. I could be wrong. Thank you.

Since he remembers the past life. Is Ji Yong aiming to help Prince Qing with the end game of removing Song Mo to have a shot at Dou Zhao? Looks like Dou Zhao's previous husband Wei comes back into the picture. Does that turn Ming against her like in the previous life? Seems like important events can't be avoided.
