Yeah! It actually was a lot to express about one ep. However, you captured the entire essence of the series thru your review of this one ep.
P.S. Fish Upon the Sky and My Engineer were my guilty pleasures. Yes, both were tropes, and a bit on the childish side. But, they were also humorous, not overly filled with toxicity, and a feel good ending, the quintessential BL romcom. LMBO!

Wow! In reading some of the comments, I want to cringe! TBH, I don't have a problem watching a BL (with different characters) for comic relief every so often. Now, whether I agree with some of the posters that this is or isn't a reflection of the lgbtq+ community, as a whole, I'm unsure. The lgbtq+ community is constantly changing and adding nuances (much like the non-lgbtq+ community), and at times it is difficult to reflect all those nuances in a tv series.
IMO, this series wasn't that bad. It had some serious flaws that could've been resolved with a few additions/corrections to the plot, a little more time per ep., and a couple of more eps. What we got was a shortened version of a complicated plot. I believe it was supposed to be your typical enemies to lovers plot. But, there was so much background mentioned, but not explored, that we really couldn't be invested in the story. But, the mains were attractive and did seem comfortable with each other (especially during the kissing scenes). If for some reason (I know not why) they should make a season 2, they may want to revisit the flaws of season 1 and correct those before attempting to start a new story.

Also, I'm sorry. But, I still have that pic in my head of the "pervy old man" (Lian) waiting in the wings to be the first to "deflower" the "kid" (Kuea). I know that some instances the age thing isn't relevant, but sometimes "it is," especially when you have an adult and 20 year old (with a childish demeanor).
Here I go again, on my soapbox. But, who cares. I was just beginning to like Lian's character, then BAM! That dramatic effect of sex! Although the series is now portraying that Lian "loves" Kuea, it also seems to show that Lian loves "banging" Kuea even more. But, then again, he did wait at least until Kuea became of age. LMBO!!!
As much as I like Perth, I dislike his character in this series. He's a manipulative, backstabbing, low-life scumbag and a-hole. He seems to take pleasure in selling out Kuea. Man! He's low! This definitely breaks him out of being type-cast as a quiet introvert.

I believe much of the angst folks are having with this series is that even though it's "cute," it also kind of exacerbates what some may seem as overly stereotypic, toxic, and demeaning of relationships within the lgbtq+ community. Yes, it's a tv show, but many see this as being a reflection of "real" life. Just my opinion.

I don't really know how I feel about this series. It's ok. As one poster noted, another uni-type series. But in this one, the mains are about the same age and uni year. I also don't like how the series is already setting up Nuea to be the "uke" character and Kluen the "seme." It would be nice if the characters could be on equal footing in the beginning of their relationship. That kind of makes the series fall back on old cliches and tropes. But, it' still cute and I like it enough to stick with it, at least for now.
