Maybe I read too much into SY expression when he told YN "I'm no longer your Third brother". It felt like thousand tons of heavy rocks were lifted off his chest. The guy has been waiting for an eternity to tell her that. 😍

The drama is an alternate universe of the novel. Just have to judge it with what it is on screen.
However, YN was too kind to that dirtbag dad when she bid goodbye. She didn't get beaten in the novel but was treated badly after the truth was revealed. Even before that, the relationship between the two was always restrained. So, her goodbye to him in the novel was a polite, ice cold goodbye. She made sure he knew there was no love lost between them.

The rating was not good last few days because the leads were MIA. Their scenes were cut short or deleted. Lots of fans on weibo were not happy. Some of us here voice displease. Some go extra miles writing novel length essay justifying secondary characters' presents. It may be ok with 50, 60 eps. But with limit of 40 eps, these characters and their stories become a drag. I have seen so blatantly in MJTY, TPR. For this drama, only 12 eps to go, too much to cover, too little time.

Same sentiment shared by Chinese fans of the show. It is what it is unfortunately, dragging out too long. Now we have only 12 eps left but those characters won't go anywhere.

YN is a master of elaborate scheme. Even the smart SY is impressed.
And thank heaven, no goose running around in this episode. Every time I see that goose, I think that's my diner.

The leads are MIA most of the time in the last few eps. They are there few minutes here and there to remind us that the story is still about them. Fun fact, they endured being dumped cold water on for the river scene, only to be deleted to make room for something else.
The plot is going slower than a turtle. Is it going to be MJTY 2.0? The title is the main character for a reason. Should have changed it to "the rise of somebody else"
I think we should add the goose to the cast list also as it is in our face almost every episode.

Some moral experts are so quick of lush shaming YN for flashbacks relationship with LJX. Blaming her for his inappropriate words, actions.

Some are too quick rushing into judgment of YN past relationship with LJX.
All we see so far are fragments of flashbacks. It's obviously to me they were really close, probably in love. He was her first love. So embracing or lovers conversations, nothing wrong with that.
Wasn't that SY embrace too intimate to? And here we're waiting for the kiss. Isnt that too intimate to for an unmarried lady?
Why cant we wait to see if she and LJX did intimate like husband and wife or not before lush shaming her.
No one knows why she didnt tell SY before when he asked. Why too much negativity against her for unknown reason.

The main plot is either stalling or moving like a turtle. Took the whole ep for SY to pass an exam, not much else. The main biggest exam has not happened yet, then raising to power rival to LJX, relationship between YN and SY is till where it is. 15 eps left, doesn't seem to be enough to fit in all these. Instead, bunch of unnecessary developments else where. I hope ep 25 is just a filler and that the story lives up to what it means in the title "The rise of Ning"

Tbh, this drama performs well part of it because the current rival dramas are not really good, like the best among the not really good.
The leads' oozing chemistry was wasted due to the birth secret drags out too long. they are stuck in the sibling mode for an eternity, sigh. ZWY only can express his love through his eyes. RM, even tougher for her. She could only express more when drunk. Such a waste of potential.
And CS, wasted of his potential too. See how we hate him so much with very limited time he was on screen?
I have waited and waited for the real face off between SY and LJX once SY raises to power, along with YN real identity and love triangle between them.
But, 15 eps to go and the main plot is not moving but the subplot is expanding. The 3 leads together had about 10, 15 minutes on screen in ep 25, the rest of the ep was ... whatever. Feel sorry for the 3 leads.

Secondary couple have more screen time than they should. I don't care much about their love triangle. Three of them don't have much tension and zero chemistry. Nearly half of ep 25 was about them.
I would rather see the plot focuses more on the three main characters. The main birth secret drags out too long. The politics, power struggle between ML and SML has not even started.

SY probably already sensed there was something between YN and LJX at their first encounter. The way she was terrified and the way LJX looked at her like he wanted to eat her, LOL.
It didn't take long for SY figured out. But he was patient, didn't push her. Gave her time and space to open up to him.
