It has low budget, and it shows from the same set that is used over and over again and some CGIs are not very good (look cheap). But they definitely spent the money on the correct places, good script, good director, good actors, amazing costumes (I really love the costumes here especially WKX's), good make up/styling.

Unfortunately good script is a rare animal in C-dramaland as ZZH also mentioned that WOH script is one of the best he encountered in his career so far. Sponsors are also often just interested in making quick profit, therefore there is always demand for popular traffic actors (who sometimes can't act) just because their massive fan base will guarantee audience for the drama. That's why I'm so grateful for WOH, hopefully they have raised the bar not only for BL story but also drama in general.
