I can't say about reliability since we don't know exactly how the algorithm works, I heard they take into account the no of people dropped, no of reviews, etc etc. Anyway I will take MDL rating with a grain of salt. For C-drama, I usually refer to Douban rating. It's not perfect of course, but at least they show the each score's percentage and from that we can kinda estimate the final score. But here? *shrug*

Actually I did try to do simple statistical comparison a while ago between a drama that has majority of 8-10 score with a drama that has a lot of 6-7 score (even there are 1 score), and the difference is only few points, which doesn't make sense statistically. There must be other factors put into the rating algorithm which we will never know. Since then I kinda lost confidence in MDL rating..

To be honest, I don't believe in MDL rating, there are many questionable factors in there. The difference in rating between mediocre and great dramas are sometimes very small, it doesn't make sense. I usually just read the review and comments to decide whether to give a drama a go or not.

Really can't think of anyone now, GJ and ZZH are too perfect for their roles ^^ but I still think that Mao Zi Jun looks the part for ZZS..

I saw it on the Youku website, it's quite long more than 6 mins clip. Is it worth paying?

It really is an exact dejavu with Guardian, massive budget cut, change of lead actor, almost zero hype but turned out to be massive success. What a fate for Youku. Just imagine if they still had all those budget and 45 eps, it would be a perfect show. I also remember ZZH said in an interview that the script itself is very complete, which could mean there shouldn't be plot holes that we see in the current version. More appreciation to the whole team for being able to create this magic despite all the limitations.
Note: I always wanna laugh everytime I see that Woolong nuts, it can't be more obvious of a product placement XD well, they did make the right decision to be the sponsor.

Yeah, I also don't understand why ZZH said the best ending would be ZZS spending his last years with the people he loves (isn't it cruel for WKX?). They also obviously have filmed the immortal fighting scene, it can't be ZZS's illusion, right?
Anyway, we got the HE they deserve, so no complain from me :)

I also remember last year when people start compiling the BL 101, no one paid attention to this drama and all the attention was on Immortality and others with more budget and more popular actors. WOH literally ambushed and caught everyone off-guard. Now I can imagine all those BL productions literally squeeze their brains out thinking of how the heck they can surpass this (when all the shootings are finished already).
And yeah, so much fear for BL drama produced by Youku, after they butchered the original story of Guardian..

One way to test it is to ask a guy to say "wan mei" with that suggestive look to his male friend and see how he will react LOL.

Exactly. I'm getting tired seeing the same comment over and over again. If they want to enjoy it as bromance, they are free to do so, why need to seek validation from other people? Is it because deep down they also think that this is more than just bromance?

Um.. can I make a suggestion, maybe you could try showing this drama to your male family member or male friends and see if they also share your opinion? Isn't it a much easier way instead of seeking validation from the people here who obviously know and enjoy this as a BL. Just my two cents.

You're absolutely correct, I've also been a long time J-ent fan and I could rant on and on about how J-ent industry works, including the ridiculous and century-old copyright issues. They really feel like a dinosaur, out of synch with the rest of the world. Which really is a pity since many J-shows are excellent and can appeal to international fans.
But the good thing is that there have been changes in recent times, as younger generations start taking top positions in the entertainment/agency companies. Johnny's is a good example. Hope they will continue making progress.

Omg, really? I can't imagine the hardship both GJ and ZZH experienced, the entertainment industry is indeed very harsh. Glad that they finally got the recognition they deserve.

Preview of Happy Camp, it looks so much fun! GJ and ZZH will also be recording Day Day Up, glad that we still have a lot of chances to see them together.

This is the 2nd drama that made me desperate to throw my money on them as much as I can xD but I'm happy to do that since this drama is worthy.
