I saw the first episode, and the modern monarchy concept just feels corny. Constitutional monarchies exist, but…
it adds a sense of whimsy, it doesn't have to be accurate. I think this drama IS in fact corny but it's self aware, it's not trying to come off as serious... Also corporate/political sounds egregious good lord
I'm gonna throw Prime Minister Min a bone...had he known her father was trying to marry her off I think he would…
you totally have a point but at the same time they've been friends for ages and he could've initiated something between them (not marriage, just a romantic relationship or whatever) a long time ago and he never did
I would've given a 10 star, except for the ending which almost ruins the show for me.She's like "choose making…
ironically I disliked the ending for a similar (but at the same time, the exact opposite) reason haha. I thought it was inconsiderate of her to give him an ultimatum and ask him to quit his lifelong dream. It's true that there was a risk of eventual bodily harm but it still should've been entirely his choice. And I didn't think this was perfectly resolved at the end... for such a major conflict in the story, it had a very vague and unclear resolution.
Hard disagree. She was the director’s first choice for a reason, ratings booming and she was praised by critics…
Yes, I'm aware most people disagree... However, I personally disliked her performance (I think me liking the show was a factor in how disappointed I was by her acting. It felt like wasted potential to me)
imo if this was in netflix, it would have topped my dearest for sure. currently in episode 7 and damn the story…
not even close omg... no amount of traumatic events on this drama make it compare to the emotional depth of My Dearest. Pacing, character development, cinematography, chemistry...etc. They're all superior on it.
I was so surprised to find people praising the main actress... She wasn't horrible but her acting lacked so much especially compared to the quality of the show. It's like she had 1 expression throughout the entire thing.. idk if it's excessive botox or what, but her face didn't even move when she cried, it was so noticeable to me and really took me out of the story. It made it really hard to view her character as warm or lovable, or to just care about her. I think the show would've easily been a 9.5 for me instead of an 8 if it had a different actress.
Could you expand on this? I'm mostly seeing good reviews, comments.
Hahah no problem at all, thank you for offering a safe space to elaborate!
If you're still looking for something to watch, I suggest My Dearest (my fav drama that I'll jump at any opportunity to recommend hehe) it's such a beautiful and mature love story with really well written characters (the FL can be infuriating at times but is very human and lovable.) It gets a little gut-wrenching at times but the ending is happy.

I personally thought it was really corny. The FL was likeable but I didn't like the male character whatsoever and found it really hard to care about his story/past. The plot was extremely (and I mean extremely) boring to me. The romance felt forced/disingenuous. The plot with the 2nd ML was HELLAAAA WEIRDD he was basically her brother, it felt incestuous. This one is a bit silly but I also hated their outfits lol, they dressed in "2014 business casual."
[EDIT: there was also a lot of just STUPID scenarios. Like the fact that one of the main "conflicts" was her being soOOoooOo embarrassed of being a fangirl and hiding all her merch, it felt so goofy to me]
altho I feel like I have to mention that I rarely enjoy romcoms (I'm more of a Romance with a capital R kinda girl) I've only enjoyed like 5 maybe. So my opinion is gonna be different from someone who loves romcoms. You might enjoy this drama even tho I despised it.
I ended up with a little crush on the 2ML and his angry eyebrows ❤️
real. I even tried to find dramas where he's the lead but he's always a side character or second ML :// He needs a better manager he's too fine to not be at the front
The plot was really interesting to follow, but the main character felt a bit underdeveloped in my opinion. She felt very passive, like the plot was happening to her and she was just going along with whichever decisions were put on her table. Also the random romance felt very forced. But still, the plot was enjoyable..
And the proposal was so untimely I agree lmao
