Yes, completely agree, specially with your last paragraph. But the drama had to tone it all down considerably (to the point that the Jingers argue that XY doesn't even love him at all, when we know that's not true) for censorship reasons. She clearly loves him, he loves her with all his heart and the Lovers' Bugs are only one of the many evidences of that. The same can't really be said about Jing, despite all the efforts to make them the "official pairing". Sure, he's the endgame, but in the novel it's pretty clear that she loves them both. Actually, Xiang Liu is her true soulmate, while Jing is only the companion. It's pretty sad, but despite all that, Xiang Liu still managed to overshadow all the others. We can't win everything, I guess. Hehehehe
