Wang Kaimu best film in 2025

I though Wang Kaimu in Secretary Qiu was his peak in 2025 and I COMPLETELY WRONG.

Everything in this drama was *chef kiss* MASTERPIECE. Xu Zhenzhen surprised me with her inner voice that not cringe and her character is so adorable. The plot on the vertical drama view is the best despite minor flaw that we can forgive it. It giving Sex and the City vibe.

The plot is quite fast compare to other same theme drama with mature conversation that realistic on real life (How ML have same exact sex position for more than year lmao). The romance growth for stranger with marriage arrangement to become dependent for each other is natural without any force chemistry. I like how the couple solve the problem with proper conversation (FL wants to divorce ML because found her secretary lipstick on his coat while ML tried to defend his right by checking the CCTV and fired the secretary, ML jealousy of FL coworker, etc) Wang Kaimu- Xu Zhenzhen chemistry is like river flow-natural and not being force sweetness. The supporting character aka FL best friend are biggest helper to clueless FL and ML about love (and sex).

I like how ML backstory of being robotic and how to overcome his trauma with FL. While FL tried to understand ML more better without siding her main priority as human being.

One of the best vertical drama in 2025. I am not even kidding with that statement. I will recommended to anyone who passed 18 years old, even not c-drama enjoyer can enjoy this.

Candy Eye Male Leads and Dog Trainer Female Lead.

There is 4 Version for this adaptation story and I watched 3 of them including this version (Tian Jiu Luo, Jinzi and Wang Yunyun). For the Stellar Male Cast, This one wins for sure when you can see Lan Bo, Yi Hang, Huang Youtian and Liu Ziheng on the same drama It's like F4 for costume drama in vertical short drama.

All of plot are same with same open ending (There is hint for season 2 as the novel still ongoing) so there is nothing to compare between the version. I will make notes for the main cast.

-Wang Yunyun stills play safe like her usual costume drama. Not too bad but also not great either. At least she are not making Female Lead look like bratty princess and still got the 'dog-trainer' literal meaning. For Yun Qi character, I still like Tian Jiao Luo boldness and she still wins over Jin Zi characterization.

-Lan Bo plays as general who was FL ex husband for two days. For the characterization most of all version are same with forceful attitude. I disliked ML characterization even there is season 2 i wont hope FL ends with him. in all the version. Ming Chuan and Zhang Tingrui are losing with slightly difference with Lan Bo.

-Huang Youtian plays as crippled prince for all the version i quite like FL with him despite calculating attitude and he never force FL and just getting along with her antics. He still win over the three version. I am rooting for FL and this ML to end together.

-Yi Hang well i quite like him in here and he plays FL 'adopted' brother aka Yun Jin Chen while actually he just slave for her family. He suits playing dog prince. For this i favored Yi Hang over other previous versions.

-Liu Zi Heng compares to all these male lead here has most weak advantage due his acting skills and the Xie Lin Yu was supposed to be comedic character while he lack the fun part compared to previous version (The Jin Zi one is the funniest followed by Tian Jiao Luo version).

I enjoy FL can kiss all the MLs like the original version even still lacks of seductress feeling. But I like her chemistry with Huang Youtian in here.

Overall, I recommended to watch this first if you haven't watch the Tian Jiu Luo one.

Powerful casts but ends up being underwhelming drama.

I watched this on the day this drama was released so it's quite fresh review. All three lead actors are ones I follow, so I'll have to judge this drama as soon as possible and this drama was Zhang Xuan and Chen Linmiao version (it was the best one in terms everything acting and plot, i recommend this one) and compare to the previous version i mentioned, this version didn't live my expectation.

The plot was revised into bad state. Wang Kaimu acting really show how his limited skill was. He is playing a suave warlord but felt like a good student pretending to be a bully. Wang Nan's portrayal of the villain was good, with his red eyes being quite endearing. In this version, SML never likes FL and it was shown on when he pulls the trigger while holding the FL's hand, it feels like he just doesn't want to see FL happy instead of being jealous.

Zhi Chun He portrayal of FL was completely being nerfed in here. I didn't have any good memorable about her scene. Not saying she was bad actress but FL character was not too strong like other version. FL was too calm into passive mode in this version. Wang Kaimu and Zhi Chun He visual were quite match for uncle loli story but the chemistry were barely minimum. I preferred their interaction on BTS scene more than actual drama. Because the historical and political struggles were almost entirely cut from the series, the ending felt rushed.

The costumes and props for the drama are beautiful, and the two MLs are quite handsome, but after watching it, I realized they're not a good match. Those who like this version will love it, while those who don't will feel it's a waste of the actors' talent.

For hardcore fans only.

The best dual transmigrating story, no argument needed

I watched many dual transmigrating story and for me this one tops everything. I've been traumatized by a bunch of low-quality ensemble dramas, and this one has been a real healing experience. The four people chemistry were most natural from every aspect and you could mix match the CP even the same gender one. Their harmony were too perfect and I need to appreciate Chen Tian Xian, Liu Nian, Zhang Chi and Zhi Chun He for this drama. The interactions between the two couples are equally sweet, Essentially, it includes all the elements viewers want to see. I can relate with Nian and Chun He on their first scene. So fujoshis coded. I am on Chun He's mind want to make the Male Leads kissing each other. Zhang Chi's costume remind me of Seungho from Painter on The Night.

Within its limited runtime, it almost achieved perfection. It has a main plot, a coherent storyline, a complete narrative structure, laughter and tears, plot twists and redemption, rich content, and a tight, smooth pace. The screenwriter has achieved what is most difficult for an ensemble drama –complete dish! Moreover, the supporting characters aren't just plot devices; the villains' scenes are also entertaining, and the emperor is a source of amusement. While the ending leaves a cliffhanger, the story is already very complete (I am waiting for season 2 too). The costumes, makeup, and props are excellent, the visual quality is good, the filters are natural. The only drawback might be the lack of original voice acting; dubbing really detracts from the overall quality and the system voice was quite to squeaky for my personal taste. Overall, it's quite enjoyable.

Recommended if you like dual couple story with light tone drama.

The most useless reborn plot.

I watch this when i want to explore more Gong Fang Ni works and Yin Yibo is finally not playing a scumbag anymore. Both actors have talent and good looks. The chemistry was decent and...Boom! The drama make me disappointed since there is too many non-sense in this drama.

The cons in this drama FL was too dumb why you tell the enemies that you have the evidence? FL wants to take revenge alone but in the end ML is always the one shielding her from attacks. FL enemies are everywhere, and even near the end, FL is still out alone. It feels like the reborn was useless for FL since she always trapped into same hole.

Maybe only hardcore fans could watch this.

Realistic Development

I was eager to wait Chen Si and Han Yutong collaboration and it was first time Chen Si didn't do hot kiss on his drama. Novel adaptation still ongoing and hope there is season 2 with same cast. Even the length of the drama is quite long (3 hours) the development between Male Lead and Female Lead is slow paced and it quite realistic since Female Lead still on her divorce cooling time and heartbroken since Ex Husband cheated with his working partner. I feel the story focused on Female lead ex husband rather than Male lead. I understand why this drama get number 1 rating even no hot kisses. Han Yutong red dress is compliment her figure.

My kind of Office Romance drama

I quite expected this combination since Han Yutong-Wang Kaimu height wise was charming (Their first collab was underwhelming since the plot was too dragged). Quite Slow-paced for realistic office romance drama and not all actress and actor could pull this drama if they didn't have acting skill . Wang Kaimu as CEO and Han Yutong as commoner secretary. I have irk about ML talk about FL height while Han Yutong look quite fragile thin. The misunderstand between office colleague about Secretary pursue CEO while the truth its CEO whose pursue Secretary. CEO always asks Secretary why she didn't consider him as romantic interest. Secretary tried to getting blind date, asked her cousin to accompany him to shoo CEO, and met her First Love which didn't get her dream expectation (Her telling his first love being ready to regret something is quite new in drama). I quite like it since few scene was related to me (How First Love on her high school was prince charming while the reality being Narcissistic and insecure about job and her relationship with his CEO Boss). Rather than focusing on antagonize character (They have few one but there is no misunderstanding between CEO and Secretary) this drama is portraying how relationship grow and apart also people change. Rewatch for killing time and want to get slice of life about Office romance.

Supporting Female Lead was too powerful in this drama

I watched this because of Li Ya Ya and personally i quite have 50:50 opinion about Min Jie acting, so i tried to watch it because of Li Ya Ya. It was decent drama to watch.

The plot was quite interesting, FL dreams of her own ending, makes different choices, and has a storyline involving conflict with the chosen one (SFL) and the forces of fate. ML loves the FL very much and is very perceptive of the SFL's manipulative behavior, drawing a line as clear as the Milky Way. This kind of plot is just so satisfying. But no matter how the ML and FL choose to distance themselves, SFL always appears around them, saying ambiguous things, and everyone still believes her.

ML accidentally sees SFL changing clothes and almost vomits. FL's health slowly deteriorates because of the SFL's luck. The ML can't get an erection because of the SFL's luck. The funniest part is that the ML treats the SFL like a "love potion," and the FL treats SFL like a talisman.

ML learns SFL is the world's ultimate main character and wants to kill FL and perish together. His past life's ML appears and tells him that he and FL have died over ten times, and killing the SFL will only lead to endless reincarnation. I quite like the plot twist in this drama since it was make sense and acceptable.

The main couple is somewhat sweet but their intimate scene was obviously cut, SFL is just too much of a troublemaker and she got more screentime more than the leads, she was too powerful and her luck was quite big in short drama.

This show's appeal lies in its deep affection; lovers overcome countless obstacles to be together.

Decent watch, if you want to see light romance.

The aura looks right but chemistry is not there.

I was reluctant to watch this drama but my Tiktok friends suggest me to watch this and i am not regretting my choice.

Wang Chanpeng and Lin Zixuan had perfect aura for Wen Xi and Shang Chen but for chemistry they are still weak compare to other version. But supporting cast especially FL real mother and SFL acting are decent to watch.

Apart from the premise, it doesn't feel like a short drama at all, giving it a refreshing feel. ML, in particular, is fantastic. He doesn't overstep his bounds when it comes to the FL's affairs, giving her complete trust and letting her handle things herself while quietly supporting and protecting her from behind.

FL's real mother, in particular, vividly portrays her inner turmoil between her two daughters, her guilt towards her daughter, and her shift from doting and indulgent towards the SFL r to resignation and eventual abandonment. This makes the audience very engaged. The overall story structure is complete, the plot is coherent, the content is rich, and the details are well-done. The only possible weakness is the romance between the ML and FL. They seem detached and each other their appearance makes it seem more like an older man/younger woman relationship, so it lacks sweetness.

I fast forwarded 1.5x through only ML and FL scenes, while I thoroughly enjoyed the other storylines, especially those of the SFL. The costumes, props, and sets are excellent, the visual quality is high, the music is just right, the filters are natural, and the original voice acting contributes to a very good viewing experience. Still waiting for older brother appearance in season 2.

Recommended to watch.

The Sweet Wen Xi-Shang Chen Version

I watched this last year and waited this to have MDL page so i can write my own review. Personally i am sucker for marriage after love plot and like other adaptation which is quite rare for me to liking the script. For this Wen Xi-Shang Chen has most different stories compare to other versions, this drama lacks of angst feeling of the couple, it feels like mundane couple with less of conflict.

Although it has a slow-burn title, it takes a fast-paced, high-sweetness route. ML and FL have mutual affection almost from the beginning. And the brother of FL only shown in the last 10 minutes of this drama.

Chen Fang Tong and Huang Haowen acting are quite decent at this adaptation But for me Huang Haowen's Shang Chen lack something that other version had the cold and mature that other version had maybe this drama want to interpert the sweetness of marriage. Chen Fang Tong didn't has the aloofness feeling for the FL. But the chemistry is still sufficient enough to watch.

The family conflict between FL and her real mother are lacking emotional feeling. It feels like mundane conversation.

The condom scene, it felt Huang Haowen tried held up his laughter.

The sweetness is very pleasant to watch. If you're prefer sweet version you could watch this.

Quite a heavy drama

I watch this drama on last February and personally feels Kechun acting this drama rather was far better than Kechun in "Good Girl" (Good Girl was too overrated, Mark my word). This is for the first time Guo Yuxin couldn't catch ML acting since most of her drama her acting was superior than her other ML before Kechun (Not saying she is bad in this drama but Kechun truly shines in this drama). Supporting casts really did good job too.

This is plot about choice between love and hate, where everyone's choices lead to different destinies. Although the plot of this drama has been heavily criticized, because I'm a very empathetic viewer, I can understand things from each person's perspective, so I can enjoyed it.

I really dislike the FL's character. Her words and actions are inconsistent. She thinks the ML loves her older sister aka SFL so much, yet she actively kisses him. A normal younger sister in this situation wouldn't go any further with her brother-in-law for her sister's sake. And while she says she wants her sister to go back, she actually goes back to the male lead herself to reconcile, justifying it by saying that staying by his side is the only way to find evidence to prove his innocence.

Many people say the SFL also used FL but the problem is that their initial acquaintance was based on exploitation—one provided money, the other did the work. FL took the money and then betrayed her; I truly can't empathize with FL.

My heart only aches for the SFL since she deserve more better than this. When the ML's friend plants a bomb in the car to kill the SFL, the ML just lets it go, but as soon as he hears the FL is in the car, he immediately gets anxious and rushes to save them. This makes me feel like all the SFL's past relationships and youth were wasted and the worse of all SFL lying there alone while the seeing ML with FL.

Recommended if you are not morally right person.

Old-fashioned drama

I watched this because of Wang Kaimu. Personally not fond of Zhai Yiying but her acting is still decent to watch in here.

The plot is a bit old-fashioned, involving a body double, amnesia, and a domineering CEO's forced love, but the overall pacing is tight and smooth, not too angsty. The chemistry between the leads were sufficient. The ending felt a bit rushed and not sweet enough for the leads. There is plot hole that usual on typical Chinese short drama logic how ML couldn't notice FL on her university?

Still decent watch for killing your time.

If it not for Liu Xiao Xu, i would dropped this drama

I watched it because of Liu Xiao Xu. I had beef with Wang Xiao Yi intonation since it was my pet peeve but she slightly improved.

First, the advantages: the production is impeccable except for the background music.

The overall script is what many people call a lowbrow script—not particularly exciting, and quite melodramatic. It's about a domineering CEO falling in love with a divorced, aborted woman. If you think about it more deeply, the script's problems become even bigger.

FL's so-called growth is actually just confidence gained from having a background and resources. Has she truly grown? To prove her growth, a pointless scene of her running away while pregnant was forcibly added at the end, making the story structure even more chaotic.

Those who love its tone, quality, or character design will probably love it. Those who want to delve into the story will likely be disappointed like me.

Old-fashioned acting method drama makes me disappointed.

Another drama I watched because of the actors, but was slightly disappointed. Leads didn't have any chemistry.

Wang Xuan is quite good at playing slightly crazy characters; the moment his eyes redden, he conveyed that stubborn, heartbroken feeling. Jiang Shiqi has played a blind person before, so playing a blind person again is a piece of cake for her.

Plot is about Blind FL was being targeted by her aunt after her father's death for the inheritance. While searching for her deceased brother, she encounters the ML, a professional con artist. For money, ML impersonates her brother and infiltrates her family, gradually becoming skeptical.

The entire drama revolves around the ML and FL fighting back and forth with the villains on the aunt's side for the inheritance, using rather childish methods! There's an endless suspicion of the ML's identity, with attempts to expose him! Even after the FL regains her sight, she deliberately doesn't reveal his identity to allow him to protect her; they're essentially using each other.

The supporting character acting's are quite old fashioned. Especially FL cousin.

The ending was deserve because ML own action.

I don't think general people would enjoy this even the fans of the actor didn't feel satisfied with the result.

The elevated version of Bai Yan-He Cong Rui drama

When I watched this drama, the only thing i remember is unpleasant feeling after watch Bai Yan-He Cong Rui version (that version is from around 2023-2024) so i decided to watch hoping for better version.

The Plot is same ML and FL actually had feelings for each other during their school days, but a misunderstanding prevented them from being together. FL enters into a contract marriage with the male lead to repay a debt of gratitude. Both believe the other is a Cassanova, and after the marriage, they challange each other for "cheat you spouse whoever jealous first you lose".

The plot is cliché, but the lighthearted comedy style at least still better than Bai Yan- He Congrui version at every aspect. The chemistry between the Ma Xiao Yu and Zhang Jinyi are surprisingly good. Their attractive appearances and restrained acting, combined with this understated story, make for a really enjoyable watch. Ma Xiao Yu is very likable once he abandons his overly forceful, boss-like acting style. Although he doesn't quite capture the essence of a doctor, he's still a gentle, honest, and morally upright husband.

Zhang Jin Yi has a very distinctive beauty, gentle approach, and her acting feels alive and natural, not formulaic or stiff. She portrays a seemingly innocent yet powerful female CEO with a striking contrast. Ma Xiao Yu's portrayal of his gentle care for his mother-in-law and his resilience in performing surgery on her is very nuanced . He immediately comes across as a sensible, reliable, and filial son, capable of taking responsibility and showing empathy—it's hard for the FL not to fall for him instantly.

Recommended to watch if you want some light romance.
